Hello all. This is only my 2nd post, but this subject is important and a good issue. It will pertain to my Dad & I. We are coming to visit the Villages on 3/1/10 and leaving on 3/7/10. We are going to visit the villages and areas around the villages to either purchase a home, or lease one for 4 or 5 months.
I have had discussions with the Villages sales staff over the past few weeks. My 2 questions were since my Dad is 74 and I'm 49, can I live in the villages full time and if so, could I still live in the Villages if my Dad was no longer a resident of the Villages? They said I could always live there, even if something happened to my Dad.
HOWEVER--- Pertaining to this thread, I also asked them & have in writing from the Villages office regarding 3-Dogs.. We have Three-8-year old small Shih-Tzu dogs. I knoew in the brochure it said you can have 2-dogs, but since we have three (and we don't want anymore), I asked if we can have three dogs if we purchase a home in the Villages and they said YES!!! The response was you can have three dogs when you move in, but if one were to pass away, you just could not replace that 3rd dog with another one.
Does this sound correct? They put it in writing to my response. This would be a deal breaker if we could not have the 3-dogs when moving in. Of course, i agree & understand about not replacing the 3rd dog, as that makes sense.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Raymond
PS: This group on TOTV board is great. I have been learing alot about the Villages and its people from reading. Thanks for letting me be a small part.

Slightly off topic, but we will assume your dogs pee ;)
I think they use this formula for age to determine if you are 55.
age + credit rating - 660. If it is greater than 55 you are all set.
This formula can also be applied to number of dogs....
Sorry, I have no idea of the answer and was attempting humor , but if you have it in writing I do not see any issue. Even if you did not I would not think you would have an issue unless someone made a 'stink' about it.

Raymond1234,
We too had the problem of more than 2 dogs as my mother is moving in with us and she is bringing her own dog. We have already bought a lot and are beginning to build and they did tell us the same thing as you and did put just what they said into writing on the computer. I will get a printout of it. Like they told you we can not replace the dogs when they pass away to more than 2 dogs (though I'd like to think they'll live forever). Our dogs are older too so that may be some of the consideration but like you if we couldn't bring our dogs we weren't coming. We bought a lot that has a cement wall behind it so we could be as considerate as possible to any of our neighbors (the dogs have a little yard and privacy and so do our neighbors). There seem to be many homes with privacy if you look hard enough!! I've read a lot of the "dog responses" on this website and at times it's made me a little nervous but I think if you're really respectful of others there's no problem. Most people seem dog friendly as long as you're dog considerate (atleast I hope that's the case because I plan to live there a longgggg time!!) Hope this helps a little. I don't live there yet!!

Slightly off topic, but we will assume your dogs pee ;)I am sure no one cares, but that pee comment I made was thinking Raymond1234 had posted in the "dog issues?" thread. He did not and this line makes no sense in this thread..... I really need to pay attention before posting sometimes ;)
