I am certain Shooters World researched thoroughly before building a massive store within The Villages. I am horrified to think that many fellow Villagers either own guns already, want to buy guns, or want to practice shooting as part of their retirement. I will never understand the love affair with an instrument of death.
I am saddened such a business knows it can make lots of money from a generation who should know that shooting has never solved anything.

You likely drive "an instrument of death." A law-abiding citizen without protection is easy-pickings for a criminal with ill-intent. Tim

Okay, I'll bite... What makes you think everyone who owns a gun intends to use it as an instrument of death? That's certainly an over-reaction, IMO. I know some law-abiding, peaceful people who enjoy the sport of shooting at a target. You should be thankful that Shooters World is providing a safe environment for people to engage in their sport.

What about Home Goods selling knives, you don't even have to sign for those and they too are instruments of death? What about those who text and drive, are they too the dreaded instruments of death? And let's not forget our Villagers that drive home from the square after 6 or 8 drinks. Last but not least, what about those arsonists buying butane lighters at the Dollar Store? What to do, What to do???

I absolutely disagree.
A subject that is involved in many mass killings, that ties up so much lobbying money (YEAH, we still have many lobbyists in Washington (perhaps more than ever) and instills fear in some and false machoism in others is better for discussion than dog poop or golf car parking.
Stop "engaging" and you lose an awful lot on this or any other subject close to America.
You have a right to your opinion, but to "not engage" is EXACTLY what our leaders choose to do. Not having discussion does nothing.

Mine hasn't shot anybody and won't unless they make me. It's a training facility just like the Air Gun range by Rohan Rec Center and the Bow & Arrow range on the North Side. It will be a very busy and successful business in TV.

I can understand people who don't like guns. And, if all of the guns in the country suddenly disappeared, it might make sense to discuss some type of ban on them. But, since there is no way that will happen, I am in favor of allowing law abiding citizens to own a gun. Otherwise, we are at the mercy of criminals who have guns. To me, that is just common sense.

If you don't like guns, don't buy one.
If you don't want to live in a country that allows gun ownership, move to one that doesn't allow guns.

I think that is over simplistic. The gun laws need to be tightened in the US, and better policing of those laws. I'm not against owning guns. I'm against the loose restrictions, the ease with which people can buy them, and the NRA's power over the politicians and cannot figure out for the life of me why they won't support better enforcement. Loopholes could be closed.

There are over 50,000 golf cars in TV and I'm sure way more than 50,000 guns. How many people in TV have met their death by guns and how my by golf car. It would be safer to ban golf cars.

So, if we ban guns in the US that will open the gates for the black market providers to bring them in from all the other countries that still make them. We can't stop drugs coming in, why do you think we could stop guns? Banning almost anything here creates another illegal business for those that see profits. Unless of course you believe we should deploy military to destroy gun factories in other countries :)

Whatever one’s position on gun laws, I think it’s a very good idea for owners to have a place to learn and practice gun safety.

The OP challenged a thread I started last month that discussed traveler bands which is a euphemism for "gypsies". I thought of her when I read this in the news today, about the British Beckham's having suffered robberies from traveler bands.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/celebrity/david-beckham-and-family-in-shock-as-traveler-gang-behind-raids-on-their-£6m-dollar77-million-mansion-revealed/ar-BBQ6n1z?ocid=spartandhp
We do not all look at the issues in the world the same way, and each thinks they are right.
I believe people, especially older people, will continue to own guns, hoping never to need them, and that until we stop them, gypsies who steal are real. They robbed a home here in The Villages last year. Being almost 80 has caused me to be realistic.

Did you research thoroughly Florida gun laws before moving here? As of Oct 31, 2018 there are 1,927,724 concealed license permits issued in the state.

I think we all understand it quite clearly. The primary function of a gun is to kill. It has other functions, but killing is its primary one. As such, it is, by definition, an instrument of death. You might not actually ever USE it, to kill, or maim, or even scare anyone. But don't sit there self-righteously and lie and claim that isn't why guns exist. That is their function - regardless of whether or not you use it for that function.
An automobile's primary function is transporting from point A to point B. It can also kill, but that isn't its primary function. As such, it is not, by definition, an instrument of death.
Pretending that guns don't exist primarily for the purpose of causing damage/killing people/animals is insulting to thinking sentient beings who know better. Unless you're trying to lie to yourselves, to justify something that you feel guilty about if you couldn't justify it otherwise.

In your shoes.... I'd move today !!!!!
It's NOT the laws. The laws are strict enough and purchasing a gun is strict enough. If the courts would impose sentences for what the laws state, we would have less gun violence in America. I've been around guns all my life and NEVER did I see a gun kill anyone. People kill People, NOT GUNS !!!!!!!

You forgot to notate...in your opinion.
There are many millions of guns made for no intention of killing what so ever.
There are many millions of us who buy such guns with no intention of killing.
Nobody is pretending anything as stated in the above post.
The post comes across as someone pretending to be an expert about guns, their use and their users.
The allegation of lying will be ignored out of politeness to other posters.

What really becomes evident in threads like this,
is the number of comments made by people who obviously have
very little knowledge about
either guns or gun laws.
I think the biggest instruments of death are humans!
We keep getting off the track blaming inanimate objects.

Not these but I am sure that a SEAL or some other special forces person could easily kill someone with a carrot, pencil, pen, ruler, and especially with their hands.
It is the speed with which some weapons kill like those used in Las Vegas that is scary. And at the Pulse Night Club. I know a grandmother and grandfather who lost their grand daughter in the Parkland Valentine's Day shooting. She was shot five times as were many of the other kids shot often.
I do not see any easy answers though as planes, trains and automobiles can also be used as very deadly weapons.
We do have to pay more attention to what the victims/survivors of these horrible crimes go through for the rest of their lives and make policies to make it harder for some people to get some weapons at certain times. Context should be extremely important rather than bone-headed over-generalizations.
And seek solutions using whatever means necessary to get realistic results.
