What happened this morning? Around 5:09 the power went out in Liberty Park. It was restored about an hour later. It looked like the entire neighborhood.

We live in Sabal Chase, and ours was out too. No idea.

Sometimes when the new electrical areas are hooked up because of expansion here in the area, "THEY" turn off our power for a while. THAT is my theory. It seems they TRY to do it when it is the least inconvenient. Again, my theory.

I don't know if you are on FB but SECO has a page that posts updates on events like this. There was a problem with one of their substations.

Well Seco did send out an email stating that the power was out. (I actually was aware of that.) LOL. But they didn’t state any reason for it.

P.S. - I don’t do Facebook.

I received two e-mails from SECO, the first to say the power was out...the second saying when it came back on.

Both e-mails had this....

Cause: Under Investigation

The obvious inference being...it wasn't planned.

What difference does knowing what happened make?

Why care about those who may be curious as to the cause?

I, along with others, called Community Watch. They said it was trouble at a sub-station and the electric company was working on it. I went back to sleep.

What difference does knowing what happened make?No difference in the outcome, but it's natural to be curious. [emoji192]

Absolutely no difference. I’m on TOTV because I like to know what goes on in The Villages. Why do you ask?

I went back to sleep too, but our dog didn't. DH said he heard some kind of bang when it went out. Could have been in our house. Anyway, Nervous Nelson must have heard something too and wandered around panting for an hour. But he's over it now.

No biggie. I'm still amazed we went through Irma with no loss of power.

I know people who call to report or to find out why. I am not one of those people. I will go to my grave thinking that "they" know and "they" are working hard to fix it and didn't do it to annoy us.

Occasionally a small creature, squirrels or snakes can get into substations and cause an outage when they climb on circuit breaker, transformers or other equipment, I have seen this many times. I mentioned above the connections of new areas will occasionally require electric facilities to be de-energized for safety reasons. Of course you can have the occasional accidental digin from construction in the area or equipment failure. Just prior to our moving into our new home there were 5 interruptions, most if not all (as I recall) were due to the building of new homes just south of us. The power has been exceptionally reliable since.
Give SECO a couple of days and there will probably be a report.
