Just wondering if anyone knows why most of the restaurants in the Villages will not take reservations? Where we are from up north, we always make reservations before going out to dinner. Our go to default Villages restaurant is the Bonefish, because they actually take reservations. However, we would like to have more varied options.

Very simple. Because they don't have to. Most are full every night without the hassle of looking at empty tables reserved for no-show's.

Bonefish told me that they actually only reserve 20 percent of the available tables for reservations. The new Bluefin restaurant in Brownwood has started to provide reservations.

Silly me, going ahead and assuming that people are courteous and respectful. When we make a reservation, we always show up and arrive a few minutes early. I guess it's people that make reservations and then don't show up, or bother to call and cancel, that ruin it for everyone else.

Isn’t Open Table just an on-line reservation system?

It is and works well with FMK so far...time will tell. Turners also used Open Table but stopped....they will take phone reservations now.

It appears that OpenTable is no longer booking reservations for Bluefin. You don't seem to be able to make a reservation for any day or time.

Also the Bluefin web page does not have a "Make a reservation" button. Restaurants that us OpenTable usually have a button that lets you to make a reservation on the restaurant web page... OpenTable charges a smaller fee if the reservations are made through the restaurant web site instead of the OpenTable web site.

Some restaurants offer "Call Ahead" which is similar to a reservation. You just avoid waiting so long when you get there.
