THE HAIRCUT

A young boy had just received his driver's permit
and asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said he'd make a deal with his son.
'You bring your grades up from a C to a B Average, study
your Bible a little, get your hair cut and we'll talk about the car.

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided
he'd settle for the offer and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, I've
been real proud. You brought your grades up and I've observed that
you have been studying your Bible, but I'm real disappointed you didn't
get your hair cut.

The young man paused a moment then said, 'You
know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my
studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long
hair, Moses had long hair and there's even a strong argument that
Jesus had long hair.'

To this his father replied, 'Did you also notice
that they all walked everywhere they went?'

an event in my own life. I was 18 driving a '64 Mustang. My parents, specifically mom, always gave me grief about the length of my hair. It had been several days and she had stopped saying any thing about getting it cut each day. So, I am out in the car with only a few bucks in my pocket until pay day. I decide to go to the barbers to get that hair cut to surprise and reward her for not asking. Only thing it was gas or hair cut. Needless to say but I ran out of gas on the way home. I should have stuck to my guns.

Getting my hair cut resulted in my having to walk as well.

I once was at a basketball coaches clinic and Bob Knight was the featured speaker. He told a story about a recruit who was visiting Indiana, and who had long hair. Bob told him he would have to cut his hair if he came to IU, and the lad replied; "I don't know whether you know it or not coach, but Jesus Christ had long hair". Knight replied that despite popular belief he did know that. So he took the kid next door to the IU swimming pool and asked the boy to stand at one end while he went to the other. "Now", said Knight, "Walk over here". The young man ended up going elsewhere.
