This is something I wish I'd written down but didn't. I know there are "urgent cares and then there are urgent cares" in our area. I've gone to Paramount in the past but it seems that someone mentioned there is one that's affiliated with TVRH. Is that correct?? I thought I'd read somewhere that there's one in Brownwood that's good. Is that in the strip mall where the Butter Bean restaurant used to be?? We may need one today and I want it to be somewhere that the majority of folks recommend. I don't know how to do a search on this site for former conversations re: this.

Thank you, but don't think that one is operational anymore. I did do a google search (finally) and saw that the reviews re: Paramount were all pretty, consistently good. I think I'll stick with that one if we need to go. HATE when ??? (health issues) come up on the weekend and the dr. on call's message box is full!!! Must be the season!!!

TVRH no longer has an Urgent Care unit. However Leesburg Regional Hospital, which is part of the same company TVRH is, does have an Urgent care unit. Depending on where you are in the Villages it may be closer than TVRH.

You're right about it being the season. If it's any consolation, I've had some pretty good luck with urgent care facilities and even chose it over my doctor's office about this time of year a few years back. Was in and out and home in bed way sooner than I probably would have been if I had gone to my doctor. Hoping first off, you don't have to go at all, but if you do that all goes as smoothly as my experiences.

It's too bad the hospital no longer has one. Maybe folks were still abusing the ER rather than using that. I did go there a couple of times when it was in operation and ended up being sent over to the ER anyway. I will NOT go to the ER for what isn't a medical emergency. Leesburg is way too far from where we live so thanks but it's not an option. I'll stick with the local one and take my chances.

Hope very much to hear you are both o.k. Henry went several days in succession to the Urgent Care in Lake Sumter Landing nearest Citrus Cardiology. That was during the flu epidemic and our doctor was swamped. They gave him anti-viral shots. He was very satisfied with their care.

I have a recurring infectious problem which always seems to become a problem at the weekend. My own physician has suggested I use the 441 Urgent Care at Sumter Landing, Old Camp Road. I believe this Urgent Care almost always has a doctor in attendance. I have also heard great things about the Summerfield ER | Ocala Health | Ocala, FL (https://ocalahealthsystem.com/service/summerfield-er). I have a friend with kidney stones who always uses this facility and swears by it. Have also heard good things about Paramount Urgent Care (https://www.paramounturgentcare.com/).

I used the 441 Urgent Care on Farner, across from Colony Plaza just two days ago. I couldn't have been treated any better. Staff was very attentive, listened to my input and treated me accordingly. I'll also mention that I have never needed medical attention here before and wondered what I would do if the need ever arose. In this case I made the right choice!

If you need serious care and don't want to use TVRH, there is Summerfield ER opened about 2 years ago by Ocala Health in front of Del Webb Spruce Creek. It's 10,500 square feet costing $10 million dollars with 40 full-time health professionals. It has 11 emergency rooms, a laboratory, and imaging services, including CT scan, ultrasound and X-ray and an operating room. I know someone posted once they had some kind of serious problem and went there and was on the operating table within 30 minutes.

Ocala Health opens full-service emergency department in Summerfield | Ocala Health | Ocala, FL (https://ocalahealthsystem.com/about/newsroom/ocala-health-opens-full-service-emergency-department-in-summerfield)

From Villages News -

“The new Summerfield ER facility allows us to provide critical healthcare services in a more convenient setting for our patients,” said Chad P. Christianson, CEO, Ocala Health. “We continually monitor development in Marion County, and our hospitals are seeing an increased number of patients from the Summerfield area. This new facility provides emergent care more closely to where our patients and their families live.”

Ocala Health encompasses Ocala Regional Medical Center, a 222-bed facility located in the heart of Ocala, and West Marion Community Hospital, a 94-bed hospital located in West Marion County.

I have heard that BUT it's a bit far from where we live PLUS you will get charged (I think) as an ER rather than an Urgent Care. Our medical plan requires an actual U.C. I've received some good advice from this post. As things turned out...we didn't need to use one today and will await a call tomorrow from our clinic. We have TVH and prefer to keep things locally and not in Ocala!

Urgent Care is 441 Urgent care, not 411. There are several centers:
Buffalo Ridge Plaza, Lake Sumter Landing, SR 44 across from Brownwood and Mulberry Lane behind Walgreens. They are open 365 days a year. New center now at Colony.

I cut the side of my thumb off in a slicer while slicing potatoes for my wife. I went to Leesburg Urgent center only because I didn't prepare ourselves where TV Urgent Care Center was here. They did an excellent job until they had to use Silver Nitrate on it to stop the bad bleeding, that stuff burnt like H _ _ , LOL. Just saying I like the one in Leesburg, but I'm sure the ones in The Villages are excellent too!

We agree with the suggestion to use the Urgent Care or Emergency Care (Which ever is right) on 441 in Sumerfield. We always went to the UC in Lake Sumter but for reasons I don't want to get into we looked for an alternative and this was recommended. It may be a few mile, (not many) north towards Maids of Marion but the drive is well worth it.. Reason: You will always see a Doctor, it appears to be ready for anything including blood work, xrays, etc. :clap2:

Everyone is forgetting about the CVS Minute Clinic.

Never at the 441 Urgent Care have I ever seen a Doctor. Yes, many injections in the butt. One central Doctor in an office somewhere name appears on the paid insurance form but no one ever see's him.
Don't be fooled that you're seeing a degreed M.D.

The Colony facility is much cleaner than the Lake Sumter facility.

There is a 411 Urgent Care also in Sumter Landing. It's where I've been going this past week for the crud that is going around. They are very efficient in getting you in and out. Google it.

The 411 Urgent Care is not part of TVRH.

Unfortunately. an emergency occurred on a Saturday night a few months back and NONE of the urgent care facilities were open forcing us to go to TVH ER where we waited over 2 hours eventually leaving and seeing personal physician on Monday morning.

Saturday night emergency, left ER. Then, personal physician seen Monday morning. A real "emergency." Apparently ... in the eyes of the patient.

Last year I needed to go to the ER and chose Summerfield ER over TVRH, based on past experience at TVRH. When we arrived at Summerfield I was immediately tested and examined by the ER doctor, who recommended a night in the hospital for observation. The ER staff handled the admittance procedure, so I went directly by ambulance to a pre-assigned room.

The other thing that worked better at Ocala Regional was getting OUT of the hospital. My last time at TVRH I had to wait hours for the specialist and hospitalist to sign the discharge papers. I was by-passed for lunch because I was "scheduled for release any minute". At 7 pm the hospitalist finally signed the paperwork. At Ocala Regional the discharge was done promptly during the day.

In my opinion, part of the problem at TVRH ER with patients waiting for a room is the inability of patients occupying rooms to get discharged.

The only downside of going to Ocala was the recommended followup was with an Ocala doctor rather than my regular doctor in TV.

Did you have a bad experience with Paramount? Is that why you are asking? I have taken my wife last year, and my Mother last night to Paramount, and in both cases, we received very good care, the facility was very nice, and the people were friendly and responsive. I will recommend them over any of the other urgent care facilities we have used here in The Villages.

I just went to the Minute Clinic in CVS on 466 this morning (Sunday). Was able to reserve an appointment time online beforehand. Whole appt/wait time was less than 1/2 hour. They treat minor medical problems and injuries (like your PCP would do if they were open). I was able to pick up my prescription at the pharmacy. My copay was $5 plus a separate charge for a lab test. Personnel were competent, friendly, helpful. I will go back.

There are two near Sumter Landing, just off of Old Camp Road and not far from Sunnys Bar B Que. The one that is marked 411 is the best, we were really impressed with it. Hope that helps. Also it is good to be sure and check it all out and share, some are not so good????????

I just went to the Summerfield ER on Sat with an injury to my ribs. Saw a dr, had xrays (only a muscle pull) and was discharged in an hour. Very professional operation.

At this time, I can only tell you my experience. The Villages Hospital on 441, Spanish Springs, the Emergency Room is the most &%$%&&*(((( up place imaginable. They almost killed my wife and then at the place they call the hospital, had her for 6 days and it was the most DISORGANIZED AND terrible event medically we can imagine.
There is another emergency care on 466 east near Rolling Acres road. There is the Hospital in Leesburg. Will know more later, but WOULD NOT GO TO THE VILLAGES HOSPITAL, IN SPANISH SPRINGS, ON 441. 411 Urgent care on Old Camp road, near Sumter landing is OK. Check them out and get their hours and be prepared because when it is an emergency, then you need to go and not be confused. Another item, the EMT units do not come out first, they use FIRST RESPONDERS,!!!!!! THE FIRE DEPT. We are so disgusted with so much of this unknown crap and poorly defined and lack of qualified people. in the loop. On this site, you can private message to me, to talk more.

The first responders, the Fire Department.... those are the paramedics...... more highly trained than EMTs. That is why they respond first..... they triage the patient and determine the next course of action

Guess you didn't read ALL of my comments here. I was asking about Urgent Care facilities BUT had my answer so everyone following is giving more their opinions (which wasn't asked for). PLUS I can tell you that in the past I have experienced both an ambulance ride/ER here in T.V. I've also been a patient in the hospital. I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience BUT I did. I just had an app't with a new dr. the other day, whose from NYC. The comment from them was "You will find this in about every hospital facility throughout the country!" After I told her the "general concensus made on local social media (NOT mine). I agree....having lived in a couple of place up north. You'll keep hearing the "good, the bad and the ugly" depending on the individual.
