Perhaps there are some honest souls out there who can explain to me why you either don't bother raking a bunker at all, or do a really poor job of it.

All you smart mouths out there try not to inject your sometimes humorous, but useless posts. Also try not to hijack the post...it's not only annoying, but childish.

Thanks to those who listen...and to those who don't I hope we never meet. :-) Naturally there are those whose superior intellect and common sense won't stop this...just try.

Here in is the deal - you won't stop this practice so why fight it ? There is a certain percentage of players on the exec courses that don't even begin to know the rules of golf. So what ! I'll solve this for you in a heartbeat. We play lift rake and place in the traps on exec courses. Problem solved without moving mountains.

After 15 years I have concluded there are:

> those who think it is someone else's job.
>those who do not care
>and of course those who in general firmly believe rules (all rules/traffic laws/etc) are for every body else.

The folks who do not rake also do not fix divits nor do they fix ball marks on greens.

It would really be nice to hear from these folks and respond to just why is that.
They certainly would not be cowardly.....would they?

You will find that there is nobody on this forum who doesn't rake bunkers, who lets their dog poop on somebody else's lawn, or who saves seats at the square.

In answer to your question, I played with a couple of guys who refused to rake bunkers and explained to me that it's "not their job". I was thoroughly embarrassed.

This is not just a problem on executive courses. This is a problem on champ courses. Today, at Havana I watched a golfer hit out of a bunker and then tried to smooth it out with his club. At least he tried that. I went over and raked the bunker. What really make me furious is when you see footprints next to the rake!:grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Yup, it certainly seems to be a lost cause! The ball marks on the greens irk me the most and do my best to repair a couple while waiting to putt ( could be a full time job). Perhaps some are too old and can't bend over.....maybe the folks that have those ball retrievers on their putters? LOL

We played Escambia yesterday, but it is the same all over.
Sand traps were a disgrace, and I could have spent a good deal more time repairing pitch marks on the greens.
Pure ignorance by quite a large minority.

I've heard the stories of people telling (ambassador's or other players) that it's not their job because they pay their amenity fee. Or there's the one where someone said "it's the ambassador's job". It's ignorance and thinking they're too good to do the right thing.

I played with another golfer that refused to rake the trap. It was the first and last time I played with her. Yes sense of entitlement.

Btw...I did rake the bunker after she hit the ball out of the sand.

I rake others footprints in the trap and fix as many ball marks on the green while I am waiting for my partners to play.

My Bride always rakes the bunker after she throws the ball out.

I will rake for the strangers I am playing with for the 1st few holes. I start by saying "let me get that for you". Most will rake after that unless they are really unable.
