Has anyone noticed that milk from Publix has an unpleasant taste recently? I have checked the dates on the cartons so they are nowhere near expired.
Maybe it's the time of year that cows have different feed.
Haven't had a decent cuppa for a few weeks.

I buy milk at neighborhood Walmart at Colony and it always tastes good.

Maybe a different supplier that uses different feed.

Is it just the Publix brand that tastes off to you, or all of them? Maybe a refrigeration problem? I haven't noticed any bad taste with their store brand; I typically buy whole milk and dilute it half and half with water.
John W, that must be loss leader pricing for the Neighborhood Walmart! Their superstore has it for $2.57.

We used to shop at Publix, but gave up when we found the quality was no better than other sources and half the price.
Walmarts milk tastes fine to us.

Have you changed medications recently? Sometimes they can affect how you taste things.

I agree Publix prices are higher, we only shop there when we are too lazy to go to Wally World which is fair drive for us just go to store when we pass three on the way. We like Publix meat counter and it’s very close and convenient. I was floored when Publix ‘s pound bacon was 9 bucks. At my age I don’t need to be eating bacon anyway:ohdear:

I'm so glad this was brought up. The first Milk I can ever remember throwing out was 2% Milk from The Walmart Neighborhood Store near Colony. At $1.99 I couldn't pass it up. We love that store and it is worth the ride for us.
We are trying to learn to love the new Publix behind Dunkin Donuts on 441. It is beautiful and had all the benefits that all Publix offer the only thing is it's SOOOO BIG! They had the milk for $1.99 and I took a pass, let the wife choose because she is so much brighter than I and whatever it was it was we're too normal.
Maybe they have $1.99 COWS?

Given the plethora of different experiences expressed in this thread, I have to admit that...I'm udderly confused.

This whole (or is it 1%) milk thread is udderly ridiculous.

I have used only organic milk for years. Fat free for years, but I've gone crazy and buy 1% and it tastes like cream. Organic milk, even fat free, tastes better than skim milk. I buy at Walmart, Publix or where ever we are. Walmart has the best price on milk. Because of all the additives in regular milk I convinced my daughter's family to go organic. The milk is pasteurized at a higher temp than regular milk and has a longer shelf life. Try it. Costs a little more, but you'll like it!
No, I'm not trying to milk the subject.

Make sure any of your milk is not pasture sell-by date.

I noticed several years ago that Publix' Fat-free milk had a 'different' taste than Walmart's so now that I live closer to Walmart, I never go to Publix anymore for milk.

I think milk and dairy pruducts have been refined and diluted so much, everyone has no idea what fresh unadulterated milk tastes like.
Treat yourself to some fresh chilled straight from the cow milk. It's wonderfull!
