Bravo...and they rock their carts back and forth...gas on...gas off...I have a bumper sticker that say's "sorry for driving so close in front of you" and I have had some pass me and flip me off or shake their heads like I have insulted them because of the sticker...what the heck...LOL

Street legal golf carts can go on roads with a 35 mph limit. But, if speed limit was changed to 36 mph, they couldn't. This is hubby's biggest complaint and it applies to Morse and Buena Vista. The legal golf carts slow traffic down too much.

This annoys me as well, especially since I drive 466A so much. It's even the law in Florida since last year, 'The right land is for driving, the left lane is for passing', end of story.

Drivers must think, I'm turning left into Colony in 4 miles, so I better be in the left lane, or I'm turning left onto Powell Rd in 3 miles so I need to be in the left lane. No you don't, a lane change can be accomplished further down the road, it's part of driving and navigating a car.

PS - I'm annoyed at people who insist on smoking on the perimeter of the squares, especially LSL. I was a chain smoker for 35 years but quit 12 years ago. So, I'm not crazy about smokers, especially ones at our age, and I never thought I would be able to quit. I can highly recommend the drug Chantax, as shown on TV by actor Ray Liotta, it really works. I quit in 5 days after smoking over 2 packs a day from 1971 to 2006. It doesn't contain nicotine like gum and patches, it works on the sensors in the brain that crave nicotine. So if you want to quit, this product has been proven to work better than any other. You'll need a prescription from your doctor.

:ohdear: I don't think they insisted on smoking there. They are told to smoke there by the rules. They are only following the rules like everyone should. If we don't like it and I don't, the rules need to be changed. I started smoking a few years before you and quit about the same time as you. (good for us) Better late than never.

 Won't be long and we'll be reading about recreational use of "Grass" on the Squares and people driving thru the flower beds in the roundabouts. :icon_wink: That will help City Fire's P.R.

They make that announcement that the squares are "Smoke Free" so when I see those ash tray stands, to me it means this is where you put out your cigarette as you're entering a smoke free area. To smokers, it means this is where you stand to smoke. Get rid of the ash trays so there is no confusion, or put them across the street, and have those guys in the blue shirts do more than walk around.

Actually I think the announcement says "Smoking is only allowed on the perimeter of the square"

Yep, especially now. I'm annoyed by the folks who don't obey the rules and understand you CANNOT "walk on" before 5pm on the Executive courses - had a 4:29 tee time yesterday and after 3 holes got massively backed up from all the people who just "jumped on" around 4:40pm two-three holes ahead. It was "no one's here" and then suddenly 8 carts were backed up at hole #4. Rules are there for a purpose, folks - not all of us can play at 8am!

I am just asking that they step out of the way and let others pass allowing others to go about their business.

Ask hubby if it is any worse than 1 or 50 bicycles crawling at 15mph on those roads? No. How fast is YOUR HUBBY’s car going on these 35mph roads? 45 or 50 as most cars do on those roads? That’s why there is a left lane to signal than carefully pass these slow moving vehicles. 35mph is the speed L I M I T not speed “minimum.” You can’t get a ticket for going 25 or 30 but you can for going 40. LIMIT=legal maximum. How much slower will you get somewhere at 25 (for 2 minutes until you pass) vs 35?

Yes, as you probably guessed I am “street legal.” I am rarely on the streets but it does come in handy at times.

All in all, I irritate other people much more than they irritate me. I don't expect other people to be rational and considerate, so I can deal with pretty much anything they do.

In many of the CDDs, any change to the original color of the house MUST be approved by ARC, and ONLY paints in the approved color palate can be used, so if you see a house painted otherwise, you have the option to CALL ARC and report it anonymously.

In a city of 100K+ there will be many that offend. It may be they are simply unaware their activity bothers others, it may have to do with simply being unaware (i.e. old age problems), it may be that’s how they were raised and truly find nothing wrong with their activity, or they are well aware they are offending others and just don’t give a s..t.

In a community, the size of TV, compromise is required.

The only thing I ever find annoying is when people want to be in a conversation but don't know anything that is currently going on. Divest yourself of news and current events all you want, I might even envy that, but then stay out of discussions. It's slightly irritating when people are trying to talk and one person is like "Wait...who is Jeff Bezos. Wait...who is Nancy Pelosi. Wait, what is Game of Thrones. What is Amazon. Wait, What is gluten free. Wait, what is a government shutdown. Who is Al Capone." etc. It sounds like someone playing Jeopardy.

I mean I feel like people should know *some things* going on. Sometimes I wonder, how did you get through life to this point? Not knowing anything? Than why change and want to all of a sudden catch up now.

Even if they didn't accept checks, those very same customers would load up their "just a few over, sorry!" 20-item cart, chit-chat about anything, distract the cashier, complain about the prices, present a bunch of coupons - most of which are either expired or for things the customer didn't buy, and then - try to pay by check.

But this isn't specific to the Villages, it happens every Tuesday here in New England supermarkets. Tuesday is Senior Discount day.

I copied/pasted this from another comment (the above). BUT today I saw a guy in a cart on 466a between Canal St. and B.V. going east! I was going west, otherwise might have pulled next to him to tell him to get off the road or be killed.

I have several peeves...but ALL are 1st World issues. I dislike folks who drive and don't signal and change lanes without indicating it. I dislike people who (get ready for it) who feel they can say they have a "service dog" when it clearly is NOT. I dislike on social media where people ask a "pointed question" and noone gives them the answer they're looking for. I could go on and on...but will read what others share instead.

Well too many people are in a hurry too. I was on Morse (south of 466) today and was going the 35 speed limit. Many passed me and my guesstimate of what they were doing would put them at 45 or 50 mph. You do NOT want to get a ticket here!! Yes, the police do catch people! I've seen two cars pulled over in the past 24 hrs. Sometimes they do hide....

Street Legals are allowed on Morse and Buena Vista...if it bothers folks...then pass them in the other lane. I understand! I was behind the gal on Morse today (heading south) and there was a whole lane, backed up behind her. BUT she had the right to be there. No different than a car going 25 mph.

Thought of another one....people who jay walk or even in the cross walk without looking both ways!! People in vehicles sometimes don't stop so that's a factor too. In the other news online...the people who can't park properly! BUT that said...maybe they should give up driving. Did anyone hear on the radio this a.m. where Larry observed a person in a small SUV trying to park (with difficulty) in a spot where there already was a golf cart? I've seen that many times in our tenure here...or the ones going the wrong way.

Right behind that one is one; those who feel a need to tell us,..... but they may have something you cannot see.

Lastly those, with the handicap tag, who are making a bee line to an open handicap spot.....DO NOT GET IN THEIR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!

If we don't like it and I don't, the rules need to be changed. I started smoking a few years before you and quit about the same time as you. (good for us) Better late than never.

In many of the CDDs, any change to the original color of the house MUST be approved by ARC, and ONLY paints in the approved color palate can be used, so if you see a house painted otherwise, you have the option to CALL ARC and report it anonymously.

Although an anonymous report is allowed, it would be much more respectful and neighborly to approach your neighbor with your concerns. Is it possible they were unaware or misinformed of the need for approval or maybe it actually was approved by the ARC.

I think that is a statement of fact made with absolutely no facts to base it. There are multitudes more bicyclists on those roads every day all day vs. the number of street legal carts that use it. Using bicycles as a reason would make more sense if one was to make up a factless reason but both would be way off base. Would you think the limit should be 50 so you can screech to a halt at every roundabout? At least say “in my opinion” or “I think” or post at what city meeting that was determined.

Loud and obnoxious drunks who insist on talking or laughing louder than everyone else in a bar or restaurant so that they can be noticed.

Agreed. On the few times we have to walk in the vicinity of City Fire at LSL or BW, it seems like a contest is going on to see which drunk can talk the loudest.

Another one of my irks is the amount of drunk driving accidents caused by people coming from City Fire, yet, it seems like no regulating agency is doing anything about it.

My problem with City Fire is the amount of smoke at the bar. Had no idea that statistics are kept about the drunk driving accidents caused by the two bars. What is the source of that information?

Being we're in the 21st century, there is no reason for anyone to be writing a check to pay for groceries. No stores should accept checks.

Some who are 80ish and up may either use a check or cash. My parental units only know how to use checks, have zero computer skills, no email addresses. ATM and credit cards are not in their future.

I respect how they choose to still be independent that is familiar. Checks are their comfort zone, I could never chastise them for writing a check, it’s respect that is in my upbringing for my elders.

It is a skill set I passed on to my children, and grandchildren, that not only should you respect their elders, they are a wealth of information that you will never find in a text book.

Another thing that irks me, actually really pi**es me off, is when I’m in the Traverse and someone pulls out in front of me, WHEN THERE’S NO OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME, WHEN I’M DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT and WHEN I HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING THEM and then flips me off when I lay down on the horn.

This is a pet peeve of mine too. I will never understand why people feel compelled to pull out onto the roadway closely in front of a car when it is easy to see there are no other cars behind said car. Where is the logic in that? Why make the driver break when there is all the room in the world to enter the roadway when the car passes?

Yes, but you don't HAVE to turn right on a red light. If I can't see properly down the street to my left (for instance, facing south at the intersection of Rolling Acres & 466), I will not turn right on a red light. So my pet peeve is the jerk behind me laying on the horn because I am choosing not to turn until my light is green.

People that don't put their shopping carts in the cart corals but instead leave them in parking spaces or pushed halfway into the landscaping

IMHO, it is incredibly lazy to not return your cart to the cart corral unless you're handicapped.
And I'm sure most people you mentioned are not handicapped.

People who are so engrossed by a cell phone (or call on one) that they are not paying attention to the REAL WORLD happening around them (this could apply to driving, pushing a cart in the grocery store, or anywhere they effectively impose on others safety or other people trying to simply get by them because they are parked in the middle of the aisle or corridor).

The problem with both service animal and handicap parking use is a huge lack of fairness and effective enforcement.

I know very little about Jeff Bezos. Until this fracas about his nude pictures and The National Enquirer. Now I know Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post. I didn't know that before yesterday.

People who drive at dawn or dusk in cars with their parking lights on. If the purpose for lights at this time of day is so others can see you then why not turn your headlights on? I think they believe they are saving the battery! Golf carts driving the trails at dawn or dusk with no headlights on. People who walk or jog early in the morning with no light so others can see them.

How about people who try to steal the joy out of simple, mindless, stress relieving things in life by criticizing and wanting to drag others down? I just don't get it for the life of me, what's left of the life of me isn't gonna be spent locking horns with anyone who doesn't matter.

I know very little about Jeff Bezos. Until this fracas about his nude pictures and The National Enquirer. Now I know Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post. I didn't know that before yesterday.

Oh this is what you mean? People wanting to be in a conversation and don't know what is currently going on. Sorry. I will try to do better. ;)

Love him or hate him, several people I know have made serious money on the stock of Amazon, the company Jeff built. Jeff Bezos - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Bezos)

My money wasn't serious, it was a joke.

I've noticed that many service vehicles more or less just stop in the middle of their lane barely pulling over to the curb when they stop in front of houses to perform their service call. While out walking I will often just walk between their truck and the curb as they are often 3 ft. away from the curb. Some of these neighborhood streets are not all that wide to be doing that.

Well I’m annoyed by people while making a left turn don’t pull out into the intersection while waiting. They sit back behind the crosswalk the light turns to yellow then makes the left turn, leaving at least 2 cars to wait.

I get annoyed when a couple of cars occupy 'the box' while trying to turn left and after their signal turns red...they then make their left turns against the red.

Thereby making traffic that now has a green light, have to wait for them...to finish their left turns.

Once again shining the light on the philosophy of 'entitlement' and the attitude of..."it's OK to inconvenience you, as long as I'm not inconvenienced."

Excellent point.

Along with that, are those that think if a vehicle is parked at the curb in their lane, they are entitled to just go in the opposing lane until getting by the parked vehicle (so they don't have to slow down), even if it makes opposing traffic that are in their rightful lane...stop for them.

If a vehicle is at a neighborhood curb in my lane, I always ensure that there is no opposing traffic...before going around the vehicle at the curb in my lane. :ho:

Yet another example, of a plethora of examples to choose from, that proves..."it's OK to inconvenience you, as long as I'm not inconvenienced."

As someone who frequently parks in front of customers houses, I’m very careful not to have my tires on the lawn. Not only will it leave tire marks, but could potentially damage an irrigation head. I have a feeling the service vehicles mentioned in an earlier post are parking cautiously for the same reasons I mentioned.

I totally agree with you on not parking on someone's lawn, but if a person is 3 feet from the curb (per the poster above)...then maybe they shouldn't be driving.

I’m thinking 3’ might have been a stretch. Don’t you think.

Nope...I believe it

Especially since I've seen the same thing...many times.

The poster also mentioned that they had room to walk between the vehicle and the curb (without mentioning needing to walk on the lawn)...so that would take about 3 feet.

I would rather kiss some dogs than some people. I certainly don't mind children in carts either. I do like Rum Raisin Ice Cream where most people prefer chocolate. If we were all the same...………...

I would imagine you wouldn't want to kiss a dog where his tush was touching the grocery cart. Then you put your food in that grocery cart where the dog's tush was.

My God. Get a Life...Why complain about this petty stuff. We are seniors...Spend your time enjoying what time we have left. Ignore the issues that get you going. My Blood Pressure is high enough. I just want to enjoy life and not make/create issues. Of course, you will Blast me....So be it but just get along with your life and enjoy all the wonderful things we have here. Nothing is ever Perfect.......Well said!

... Then you put your food in that grocery cart where the dog's tush was.I agree that dogs should never be taken into grocery stores.
However food is packaged or produce is in bags, so it doesn't bother me.
If cleanliness of carts is an issue, Publix and Walmart both offer wipes (and probably most grocery stores do).
You can completely wipe down grocery carts if worried about cleanliness.

My husband insists as we get older, people can not judge distance.

My wife said I always over estimated length as well! :icon_wink:

People who tell me to take it easy and not get annoyed just because I'm old and retired. I wonder if you really live by those words. Annoying is annoying, regardless of age and employment circumstance.
