Open windows allow moist air into your home. Too much moist air can lead to mold. Mold is bad stuff in Florida.

Our Md climate is hot and humid in the summer and we have only used the air conditioning a couple dozen times in 30 years- when it's near 100
The variation gores to zero in winter, so there's a 100-degree swing.

We manipulate shades to allow cool air in at night and close shades and windows when the sun tries to push its way in on hotter days.

In TV we use the AC once in awhile, set it to low 80s at night, when manipulating shades does not do the job.

We will certainly be opening windows in TV when we go more than our current 10-=times-for-four-days a year.

The garage roof attic fans are a blessing, too. we pull down the stairs and crack the windows and it takes it down 20 degrees or more

There must be a way to deal with mold - maybe climate control from time to time?
Dehumidifier?

We will be installing the window limiters you mentioned too just as a deterrent.

Sorry to hear about that vandalism
Could never understand it. compared to theft, where the criminal at least gets something.
