Looking for name/number of anyone in or around The Villages who specializes in troubleshooting-repairing an installed natural gas fireplace. Ignites fine, but won't work with remote now. Not a battery issue and no changes made since installation. Wires from controller box to coupler-igniter seem to be fine, not burned. Gas coupler may be a problem but told the now discontinued handheld remote likely is the problem. Remote Controller box used with remote tested and is fine and even tried a new backup.

The one person who historically installs most fireplaces in new homes under construction in TV is committed to a backlog of more than 600 new homes, he says, and, apparently, has no time left for service call repairs.

A name and number would be helpful, if such a person exists in the land where fireplaces aren't needed or widely used.

I'm having the same problem with my gas fireplace. Works with the switch but not the remote. Changed batteries - nope. So if anyone has a name, I'd like to get mine fixed as well.

BK,
You probably know this but just in case...

There are batteries in the remote (transmitter)
And also batteries in the receiver located in a box with small wires going to it, behind the access panel, at the bottom of the fireplace.
At least that's how mine was.

No, I did not know that -- I will have to check. Thank you so much for the tip. We'll see if that works. Thanks again.

If it's infrared, make sure to "receiver" area is clean.
