Just wondering - am I the only one who hasn't received a Census Form in the mail? I keep hearing on the news that we need to hurry up and mail it back. Where do we get one?

We haven't gotten ours here in the Puget Sound area either. Does anyone remember the big mess in the past? I think it was 1970 or 80 can't remember when the census forms were not sent out to some minority neighborhoods?

Up here, there is a huge adv. campaign by the tribal counsels aimed at the Native Americans to get them to send in their census. I have been wondering if it has an effect on their funding, the casinos have taken our local tribes from poor to rich. One of the local Casinos is connected to a tribe with only a couple hundred members left and no reservation. None of them will ever have to work again.

Went on the web. The news sites say that many didn't get forms. No one who uses a post office box got one as they use physical addresses. Many addresses for new areas were not in their database. That does not explain my situation house is over 30 years old. The gov site says if you don't get one by the 12th of April call their help line.

You are aware that you only fill out one. If you get two, one for each address, then fill out the one for your permanent address.

We got two. Same address--different days.

Yes, I tossed the one for Alabama and only submitted the one for TV since that is where we will be living.

But it is where you are living on April 1, 2010.

We got a notice that we were going to receive a census form--received the census form--completed it---got another notice that we should have received our census and then yesterday we received another census form for our one and only address here in The Villages!!!!!!!!!!

If you received one for each location then you are required to fill out both and submit both. For the one where you were living on April 1 you would enter the correct information and for the other one you would enter 0. Either way both needed to be sent in.

I would be willing to bet that some that have recently moved to TV are receiving two notices due to mail forwarding and they are not looking at the address.

Well, guess I will be getting a Visitor then to get my info in Alabama.

The news sites say that in areas that have had poor mail in response in the past or they think will have difficulty this time they did warn notices and two mailings. For the first time they are doing one mailing in english and one in spanish for some areas. They are trying to cut down on the number and cost of personnel they have to hire to go door to door.

I did receive two census forms---both to my address here---no forwardings.

And, the two I received were addressed TO RESIDENT AT, not me as an individual, so the forwarding problem doesn't seem right.

I also did not get a census form. The Census Bureau was telling people to wait until Monday 4/12/10 (which is tomorrow).

It was stated in the paper that they will have a representative in the afternoon (Monday thru Friday) at The Villages Library. You can pick up the form at that location if you want to.

Today was the deadline and still no form. I called the Census help line to request a form and spent several minutes trying to get the machine to accept my address (don't know why you can't just request a form online). Finally was redirected to a human who apologized for having to read me a required paragraph which stated that I must give him my census number if I have one and where to find this number on my census form. He then told me that he knew I didn't have a census number or I wouldn't be calling but he still had to read the paragraph. Gave him my address and was told I should receive a form shortly.

This model of efficiency which broke Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Amtrak and the Post Office will now be entrusted with our Healthcare. Good grief...

Still have not received a thing. This is our only address. Typical gov't cluster (you know what.)

Although, it would not surprise me a bit if they want it that way in certain Florida locations. Where has a big surge in population growth happened in the last 10 years.
Wouldn't want another conservative area represenative or anything.

Perhaps just cynical. But who really knows how they work in Washington.

Strangely, I've received at least six census forms. They just won't stop coming. I'm a Canadian citizen and when I'm in the USA, I'm called a Resident Alien! ... Go figure.

So I probably have the census forms for BlueHeronFan and Logdog at my house!

The forms are all addressed TO RESIDENT. The are for an address. It doesn't matter who lives there. Names are not required.

Remember when the Census was taken every 10 years without angst and controversy? It was completed, and sometime down the line the results came out and that was it. I guess things are just more complex now,

We just got ours in the mail today! They are also available at the library (Belvedere) and there is a census person there from 1 - 4.

Just to clarify, you can only get the form from the census person between 1 - 4. I foolishly thought that maybe they would make some forms available during regular library hours and stopped by Monday morning. With typical government efficiency, I was told to come back between 1 - 4. Guess you need special training to hand out the form.

My wife and I read the library had census forms. So we stopped there while doing errands to pick one up. True to form, they were of no help again.
Said soem guy had them and would be back tomorrow. (Guess no one thought of leraving a few dozen). Anyway, the wife went back a second day and sure enough, the guy was there but had run out of forms. A few days later we had to run errands in Leesburg. We stopped at the PO (they have a real one) in Leesburg and they had the forms sitting on a counter in the lobby.
The V's flops again when it comes to customer service.

Can't blame The Villages for this one. The library is run by Sumter County and the census guy is a Fed government worker. The census is a government operation and they will soon be running more than half of our economy.

Hi there,

I have never received any information concerning the census. I live in Bonita. Does anyone have a suggestion concerning this matter? I would like to be counted.
