We are about to move into a CYV full time. We picked a CYV for the privacy factor. Now I am concerned about not meeting neighbors. It seems that many of the CYV's are owned by or rented by snowbirds. That is great in the winter, but we are moving in June.
Anyone with experience tell me how to meet the rest of the neighborhood?
I know I will meet folks at the pool and when I join various clubs. Interested to hear other newbies or former newbies experiences.

We moved to our CYV last June. We only had met 1 neighbor while here on short trips, but now we know just about everyone on the street. Whether you are walking your dog, working in the landscaping or just out in your garage, you will meet your neighbors. Some villas neighborhoods have get togethers ( I wish ours did) and that helps I hear. The summer months are pretty warm so don't expect to see anyone midday for any length of time. Try mornings and evenings. We wouldn't trade the privacy for anything.
Enjoy!

many villa neighborhoods seem to have get-togethers too,
at the pool, rec center, or just in the street.
I like to landscape and garden, so I'm outside a lot, and I just make it a point to smile and talk to everyone who walks by.
If they have a dog (many do, and I love dogs), I just ask if the pet is friendly and I'll pet it and fuss over it and then I've got a new friend!

Our CYV neighborhood has bi-weekly party's and socials. We are even planning a cruise.
It will not be a problem!

I've heard of villa neighborhoods who have adopted the philosophy (or, perhaps, operational rule) that, if anyone leaves the garage door open after 5pm, then that means that everyone gathers there at about that time, with the expectation that all (the entire neighborhood) will automatically bring appropriate liquids (that usually means: booze) and snacks.
It seems to work.
You've only only got to be ready to have a fun party!

We were invited to the neighborhood party while the realtor was showing us our CYV. We ended up buying it. We went to the next neighborhood party and met all the neighbors. And we haven't closed yet. I don't think you'll have a problem meeting neighbors.
Where did you buy? We bought in Adriana Villas in Hemingway.

Bob45: We are moving to Belmont Villas, Village of Belvedere, which is very close to 466.
