I see a lot of white 'thermofoil' cabinets in the listings for many of the new homes. What is thermofoil? What are they made of? Are they easy to keep clean? What do you use to clean them? Thanks in advance.

We had thermofoil cabinets in a previous home. One day we ran the self cleaning oven, and the extreme heat from the oven during self-clean mode caused the cabinet closest to the oven to bubble, shrink, and start to peel.
After that episode, we always removed all drawers and cabinet doors prior to running self-clean with the oven.
Been there, done that, just passing along the experience.

Thanks for the warning. I then read that on the link provided above.

We have had the same problem with the foil covering bubbling up on the drawers beside the stove. The thermafoil looks great and cleans great, but beware of this problem.
