When I posted the for sale information for my home on Craigslist I received an email stating that the person was a PHD who was going to do research at the EPA in Cincinnati. We researched it online and it was a scam. Apparently there is a huge scam about someone who works at St. Marks in Wexford England who is desperate to rent your property. Watch out!!!:throwtomatoes::grumpy:

Sadly, craigslist has been taken over by scammers in many places. I know that in SF it was a great resource and an excellent way to get a good deal. In Florida, the vast majority of posts are scams of one sort or another. It really is a buyer/seller beware -- check the posts in your area before posting. If most of the things offered seem too good to be true, stay far away and find another way to advertise.

Any time an offer is made that involves cashing a cashier's check for over the needed amount, forget it -- you'll not only lose the money promised you for the overage, you'll lose all of amount deposited. Most banks now treat cashier's checks just like any other -- the money isn't yours until the deposit has fully cleared.
