What do people do with their mail when they go back home for the summer for short periods of time?

If you're going back for the summer, have your mail forwarded . If you're going to be away for a few weeks, have it held.

Ask a neighbor to pick it up and hold it for you.

Agree with z.

On my fairly frequent cruise trips, which are usually 10 days, picking up my mail is a part of my cat-sitter's duties. Holding mail has too many horror stories associated with it for my comfort.

Were I to go away for a season, then I'd probably have it forwarded.

I had my mail forwarded last summer and it took over a month for the first piece to be delivered. My advice would be for you to have a neighbor or friend pick it up and send it to you if that's at all possible.

This reminds me of a previous thread concerning the mail stations...

Today, there is almost nothing that I receive, in the mail, that I need. In fact, most postal mail is junk. I'm trying to think of a single piece of mail I receive that I really need.

Maybe it's just me ..... :undecided:

Some gets forwarded, some does not. The postal service here is, how should I say, not the greatest. I assumed first class or at least postage stamp mail would be forwarded, not so. Some mail and magazines were forwarded, but the majority of the mail was stacked in the postal shack. Why we do not have an official post office in Lake Sumter Landing is beyond me.

P.S. This is still the best place I've ever lived

We have rented a 11 by 18 inch PO Box in Lady Lake for 6 months at a cost of only 36 dollars.
