Who said it was a Villager? The crime happened at least 10 miles from here in another city, and was reported a him living in Leesburg.

5 miles from Rohan. 80 year old, looks like a villager. Maybe not. Still, 5 miles from Rohan. Just outside the bubble.

That is one sick man and should not be on the streets.

I can't figure out why his injury was so serious that it warranted airlifting him to Orlando, yet he was treated and released the same day.

It was reported in the unmentionable online news which usually reports daily a few crimes occurring in TV and the surrounding area. Some give me a chuckle. Others truly trouble me, such as this one. This criminal should have been behind bars, not out on the street.

It does not take long to bleed out.

As another pointed out it doesn't take that long to bleed out, it could have also been exhibiting other issues due to the shock of being wounded.

Sure seems like they could have gotten him to Lessburg ER in an ambulance faster.

Older people die more frequently as a result of accident and injury.
They were being super careful, because somebodies love him.

Since we were not there, we cannot critique the care he got.

Probably because Orlando is the nearest level I trauma center... the man did have a gunshot wound

He had good insurance and someone saw a chance to make some money?

They probably took him to the closest hospital that had the resources to capably treat him in a timely manner.
Anyone consider that if they had taken him to TVRH he might still be in the waiting room?

:agree: I agree and that statement sums it up nicely.
 I did hear that they considered (for less than a second) waiting to see what some of the EXPERTS on TOTV wanted to do but decided to go with the "established emergency medical protocols"

"Looks like a Villager"...? I'm sorry, I just thought that was funny. I am in The Villages everyday, and I found you good folks look pretty much like the rest of us....although most all of you are a bit better looking than I am.:)
This poor victim actually lives in the same gated 55+ community that I do, just outside The Villages, in the gated community of "Legacy", off both Hwy 27 and Hwy 48, just a very few miles away from The Villages. It is a very nice community that looks very much like many Villages neighborhoods.
This crime was horrible. Happened mid morning, in a parking lot any of us could have found ourselves in. I have never shopped in Save-a-Lot, and I'm sure this is unfair to them, but I think I will stick with Publix.
As others have said, none of us know the extent of the injury, if Shock was involved, or perhaps blood loss or nerve or artery compromise, etc, etc. Any trauma of this sort, especially for an 80 year old victim is serious. I am just glad that the victim was good enough to be released.
We are all blessed to live in very low crime high end neighborhoods, but there is always some risk. That is all I will say, as it would be too easy to wander into controversial offshoots of this crime such as personal protection, etc.
Prayers for this victims full recovery.
Frank
