With all the controversy on TOTV about the state of the golf courses in TV, what decent courses are there outside TV, within easy reach, that are worth a try for a change and to give some idea to those that may question our courses, how the courses in TV stack up when compared to individually run courses?
No, personally, I have no real idea how TV courses compare with those outside, I only play once or occasionally twice a week and didn’t play golf until I came here.

you might try The Plantations of Leesburg, on hwy 27.
2- 18 hole courses , well kept greens and well maintained with a somewhat light rough. You do however need to make a tee time, If I'm not mistaken.

Baseline, I know it's an executive course, but it is pristine. IMHO, it is the best conditioned course in the area.

Another vote for Baseline, beautiful, well maintained golf course. However, no reservations.

Go outside if you can these Championship courses are a disgrace for what they charge .Fact Everything about the villages is awesome other than The condition of the golf courses ,and the prices they charge.

Deer Island in Tavares is a challenging course. Water on 16 or more holes. Well maintained. Think I paid $ 30 with cart last month. And not many players there. A hidden gem.

Stone Creek in Ocala is in excellent shape, fantastic fairway and quick greens. Just played their this week.
Juliet Falls in Ocala is always a pleasure.
A little farther but worth the drive is World Woods, played there 2 weeks ago, in great shape.

Beautiful course. Pretend you are going to Pelican, bring your older balls.

Played Eagle Ridge yesterday. Greens are suffering in several places. Still a nice course.

Played at Harbor Hills this past Saturday. The fairways, tee boxes, bunkers were fairly maintained. About 5 of the 18 greens had some bad spots.

Was there any announcement on why they raised the golf rates ? 45,000 plus more villagers coming with only one more championship course being build. How's that going to work?

My thought exactly, the amount of Championship Golf available in relation the the amount of homes/residents is getting seriously diluted.

Well, there are quite a few stories out there about golf communities failing. The younger folk aren’t as enamoured with golf as previous folk.

Young people can't put their phone down long enough to swing a club.
And some of them wear wireless earbuds and play with their phones in their pockets. Playing golf with a cell phone should be against the rules.
