Went to my favorite ice cream store, D'Lites, last night and it was closed.....went tonight and the place is empty!! Anyone know if they relocated? No sign on the door to indicate where they went. Don't know how I will get throught the summer without them:sad:

Oh No - I loved this place and it always seemed busy. I wonder what happened.

They were evicted. There is a notice on the door now.

With them gone, is there anywhere in TV to get soft ice cream? Where?

Ollie's in Spanish Plaines

There's an Ollie's down on Rt. 466 also... near Big City. Great custard!

I have memories of custard. Well not personal memories. I have memories of Tony posting about his memories of custard.

Rt. 466 is the main East - West road that divides the main part of The Villages. Big City is down towards Walmart on Rt. 466.

Is there really an "Ollies" on 466? This could be bad news for us...we love Ollies!!!! BTW, Big City Grill, the original, WAS on 466 but have been closed at that location for some time now.

D'Lites has closed? Oh no, say it isn't true. :cus:

I loved chugging to D'Lites in my golf cart with my two dogs to get an icecream. I'm so surprised .. it always seemed very busy. Where else can you get low-calorie guilt-free icecream?? :cryin2:

Unless they have closed to, there was an Ollie's next to the coffe shop at the other end opposite where Big City was.

I did not know that!! Wow - another place to get Ollie's custard. And the good news is that they always have at least one sugar-free flavor.

I will have to check it out.

D'Lites was located next to the coffee shop in that plaza on CR 466 for the last couple of years. Does this mean that Ollie has taken over the D'Lite space? I'd check it out myself but I'm in Canada right now.

Ollie's Frozen Custard is in The Spanish Plaines Center across the street from Lowe's on 441. That is their only store in The Villages. They aren't taking over Delites old store!

Alot of people thought that D'lites was Ollie's- I don't know why? D'lites sold what I thought tasted like ice milk-Ollie's sells a Premium Ice Cream called Frozen Custard, They also sell a Sugar FREE-Fat FREE ice cream that most people who need this type of treat LIKE.

Ollie's is alive & doing well. They have been in their current location almost 10 years-oldest & BEST Ice Cream shop in the Villages...See my Picture-I'm holding a cone of Ollie's and Lovin every minute of it....YUM

It didnt surprise me that they had to close their doors. :sigh:

Well That's strange, I drove down to the Walmart on 466 today and there's an Ollie's sign on one of the stores at the front of the Wallmart parking lot in theat little strip where Big City used to be!

Was D'Lites the place in LSL that sold knickknacks and had a soft serve machine or two in the back?

Linda was looking forward to an orange cream next week!

I thought the place I'm thinking about was Ambrosia?

We visited in April and bought. Now we're having a house built on Ashwood Run in Pennecamp. Closing is set for July 7th. My wife is coming down on May 13th to shop for furniture to fill the new house. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated as far as stores for good buys and delivery. We're gonna need everything cause we're still going to maintain our NJ home for now.
Thanks
Skip

Oooops, Newbie posted in the wrong spot. I meant to post this under general questions for the Village residents and their experiences, sorry.

I drove by the CR466 D'Lites this morning. It does say "Ollies" from CR466.

Then when you get closer, it reads D'Lites. I guess the small "d" and the L makes it look like o--l--l--. The t is also small and could be a "i" from a distance.

Russ.... Ambrosia is still in LSL and has the orange/vanilla, pineapple/lime soft serve dairy free product. I do believe this store has changed ownership in the past year but the 'ice cream' remains.

Look forward to seeing you and Linda next week!!!

Article in Daily Sun today regarding D'Lites sudden closing. No reason given since franchisee closed the door without advising anyone.

Ooper is full of pooper.....is it ok to say that on here???? Well anyway, we made a trip up to the infamous new Ollies location on 466 and guess what, it ain't there. I think Taltarzac is onto something as far as some letters being mis-read and making it look like Ollies. Oh BTW, I think Ooper recently got new glasses so that could have added to the confusion.

Well, since we're talking ice cream...

Ooper needs a new scooper
Woulda been nicer than saying, "pooper,"
Although it wouldn't be a blooper
To note that either needs a scooper.

OK... I stand corrected. It sure looked like Ollie's when I went in the Walmart parking lot. Maybe I should have worn my new specs, kaydee. Anyway.... Ollie's is still going strong at Spanish Plains and IMHO, it is still the best custard I've ever had!

It wasn't a completly wasted trip for us trying to find Ollies...ended up at Dunkin for some Baskin & Robbins....oh the calories!!!!!!!

Drove by there last evening and can see why Ooper saw "Ollies". Ooper says he/she has new specs and I have very old ones.

I agree, Ooper, Ollies is the best.
