View Full Version : Do you have your name(s) on your golf cart?

I was checking my mail this morning at the postal center and noticed all the male names which have been painted on the driver's side of Villagers' golf cart front panels. I did not see any female names on the driver's side.

So, I decided to post a poll on golf cart names.

This is about human names on golf carts. I have also seen some what look to be pet names on golf carts, but these are usually on the side or the back of the golf cart.

I have also noticed that most homes have signs with the male name first than the female, but if ladies come first, doesn't it stand to reason their name should as well?
Also, I have noticed a great number of carts with the owners dog name on the cart as well. Should that be on the driver side, hmmmm, guess it would depend if they were old enough to drive

...painted on a golf cart. I wonder what Larry King would do about his golf cart if he had names of his wife on it? Perhaps, just get a new golf cart every few years to go along with his new wife. Of course, it would also have to be the newest model of golf cart.

I am surprised that you could get 16 names on the front panel of a golf cart unless they are on many different places on the golf cart.

I am waiting to see a golf cart much like a WWII fighter ace with the number of eagles, birdies, pars, and bogeys indicated on the side???

no names on cart - decorated with fiire dept gold leaf of ex-cheif badges, fire hydrant, fleur de lis, nozzle to be added at end of pinstripe that doubles as fire hose.

General is a great name for a dog!

I noticed that the Villages phone book lists the male first and then the female. Or, it looks that way from most of the names from which a certain gender is a strong possibility-- Bob and Sissy; Dick and Dora; Bob and Carol; Edmond and Carol Ann; Normand and Georgie; Thomas and Ardis; Richard and Joy; Al and Carol; Frederick and Patricia; Robert and Suzanne; Raymond and Jane; Norman and Lorraine; John and Sue; Joe and Barbara; Robert and Georgia; Dennis and Linda; Peter and Margaret, etc.

You and I are both old enough to remember (and, possibly, still live by) the convention that the male was always listed first! So, that doesn't surprise me! :ohdear:

As an extension to this discussion, does any one have more than their own and their pets' names on their cart(s)? Mine bears "La sottise d'Etienne" on the left and "Steve's Folly" on the right. These follow my penchant for naming my vehicles. As you may gather, the right translates the left.

First, probably because we broke the old record so badly no one sees a need to try again! It was close to 1,100 (folks in Sun City Center, near Tampa, early Spring 2005). We gathered better than 3,200.

Second, my memory is that Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer and/or his staff actually capped our try for logistical reasons! There were rumors that 10,000 wanted to participate!

As it was, it took some four hours to pass a given point!

It was fun event!

Now that you mention it I just realized my husband always says hello we are Trudy and Larry. And the response from the Hubby in the other couple is usually Hi Im Bob (Joe, Fred , whatever) and this is my wife so and so. Never noticed that my hubby introduces us backwards as far as convention goes.

Nope, beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone.

Somebody has to get a life. If this is the most serious problem some are dealing with while the country is in such turmoil then maybe they should reevaluate their priorities.chilout

Awwwww come on now...we're all just having a little fun here. Of course this is not the most serious of problems...it's not even a problem...just a little fun diversion...join in!!

...but only 158 poll responses. So I suppose there are a lot more important issues than personifying your golf cart. Many of the golf carts in the Villages do look pretty much alike.

Of course, you could be like George Lopez and make a loud statement about bad taste. http://www.lopeztonight.com/photo_gallery_georges_golf_cart.php

"The cart is mine (WOMAN) the HUMMER is his (MAN).

I do not know about anyone else but without the names on mine I would not know which seat is mine and which is my wifes. :a20:

This website has a lot of information on golf carts but none about names on them that I could see.

These carts are quite distinctive. There was one at a Villages Publix yesterday and it did have a name on it done with some class as you had to really look for it. It was in rather small print on the driver's side door.

I would be a chore to get your golf clubs down from way up there though.

...I saw a painting of the dog along with her name. The portrait was a very good likeness of the pooch.

Anyone ever seen illustrations of the human cart owners on golf carts here in the Villages??

We couldn't decide which name to put on the driver's side so decided to leave them off.. I told my husband, as long as I still know my own name we don't need it on the cart. He said, "When you don't know it we won't need it either!"

No names. If I do something stupid  I don't want to be easily identified.

I guess the corollary of the MadTV description of a culprit--"It looked like a man." would be: "It looked like a golf cart!"

...melds into a golf cart with hundreds of 3 or so inch US flags stuck all over it. Did not see any names on this one and cannot fathom any reason to put a name on something like this as it is probably the only golf cart like this in the world.

On the cart we just bought, I will be the main driver so my name (TOM) is on drivers side and my wifes name (CARYL) on passenger. When she buys her own cart- Caryl will be on the drivers side and Tom on passenger side.
