Our youngest Son will be buying in Oxford Arms shortly. There are plenty of open lots that are still for sale. You know in a minute that it is tied in with The Villages because the construction is so organized and everything is so clean unlike other family neighborhoods we looked at with them. It appears to be a winner but we are still investigating. No Buyers Remorse for us.

Oxford Oaks | A Gated Family Community Near The Villages Florida (https://oxfordoaks.com/amenities.html). This link shows some of the homes for sale, prices look excellent. The link also has The Villages name. Once again, the Developer stays on top of local needs for young families.

An actual "gated" community?

The irony is not lost on me. :D

Due to the fact there are a multitude of young children at the play areas, and there is not much around them, I would never expect it not to be gated. Plus there is the pool. When we visited last fall we had to tell them who’s home we were going to.

My comment wasn't meant to address the merits of a gated community, it was just an allusion to the plethora of threads/opinions regarding...our own 'not-really-gated' Villages. :D

I will say though, that if "protecting children" were truly a primary goal, why aren't ALL neighborhoods (with children) in the nation...gated?

Just food for thought. :ho:

In other parts of the country children live everywhere. Here this was an area that the developer built homes for those who worked for TV. The grounds have amazing amenities for the children, that live there. Our oldest looked at homes there and was impressed by what it had to offer. He has not found any other community either in the US or Europe, that offered the same. The gates are not to protect those who live there, but the amenities that is offered. But your idea could work in other parts of the country if you build it they might come. Celebration comes to mind.
