My wife bought me one of those beer can crushers and I've begun to use it since I've retired.

But, the closest place I've found to sell, or donate, the aluminum is in Ocala.

Does anyone know of a place closer? I don't want to donate to the county unless it's solely for the animal shelter..., I'd rather throw them away than help any politician! :)

This does not quite help you as the person we give our cans to does not want the cans crushed (maybe this changed). I share the info for anyone wishing to donate to the Humane Society.

We drop all of our cans off to:

Jan Caulfeld -383 Bishopville Loop,TV 352-751-6130

Looking at my physique, I have done more than my share for this charity this winter :beer3:

Isn't there a Lion's Club container for aluminum at your mail stop? That is where I put my cans.

For exercise, I still hand crush them. Makes me feel better.

Am pretty sure there is a Lions container at the Webb Way pool in the Village of Silver Lake - I see the truck there frequently; and I believe there is another Lions container at the gas station at the corner of Griffin and the hiway [on the side near the road to the post office].

Florida has no bottle deposit law? In MA it is 5 cents. That would be worth a heck of lot more per lb than the raw material.

I am not aware of any such bottle deposit in FL.

No deposit here in FL... though when I am back in MA for the summer Nine Lives makes out like a bandit at 5 cents a can ;)!

I don't think that many states have a bottle deposit law. Anyway, we are talking about aluminum cans. These are not bottles. Or am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure the MA bottle deposit law Russ is referring to is similar to the one in NY. It includes both soda and beer bottles and cans. In NY they now also include water bottles.

Yes. Can and bottles 5 cents.

Hasn't anyone seen the Seinfeld episode where they try to hatch a scheme to bring them to Michigan since it is 10 cents there?

If there's a tax - Massachusetts has it:)

Most postal stations north of 466 have Lions Club containers for aluminum cans. The cans are picked and recycled up six days a week. Proceeds go for aid to the blind, local scholarships, diabetes testing and education, and many local charities.

We welcome your aluminum cans.
