Was the thread listed in the expert category? If so, only pre-approved experts can post on the thread.

AH! you were probably in the "ask an expert" section, and as far as I know, only the registered experts are allowed to reply, I have gotten the exact same message in the past.

Yes, it was in the "ask the expert" section where only the designated expert can answer.
