I saw a posting in new members forum that had some listings of problems with the white Thermofoil Cabinets. Examples were bubbling near a small scratch or puncture or bubbling around the oven after a self-cleaning. We have tentatively specified White Thermofoil because of its brightness and clean look. Are we making a mistake. I would like some experienced owners who have this type to let me know if I need to make a change before ordering.

I have the white cabinets and after 8 months I haven't had any problems. I was worried because I did have problems as you describe in my kitchen in New York. I questioned the builder on our closing day walk thru, and he said that it isn't really the same old thermofoil, it's improved, etc., you know the hype. So I will wait and see and if any problems develop during the warranty period they'll fix it. I love the look of the white cabinets.

have not had any problems, and we have been here for 1.5 years. it is 'really white', but always look fresh and clean. have been considering painting or tiling under the cabinets to add some color to the area, but am having too difficult a time deciding on what color or what material to use. so for right now it is 'really white'.

I have a friend that has Thermofoil Cabinets and one of the doors bubbled up over his toaster. I would not recommend them if they will be exposed to heat.

That's kind of what happened to our cabinets in NJ. We had the kitchen redone about 7 years ago and after a few years noticed the "paint" had shrunk on the top of the drawer ledge and top of the cabinet door ledge, leaving the underneath wood exposed. It was also next to the oven. These were very expensive, name brand cabinets, and while I loved the white "I" would never get them again. jackie

I have the White Bay cabinets-I guess they are Thermofoil. We are in our
8th year and no problems with them at all. I do have an indoor grill on my range so there is quite a bit of heat from that--but no problem. I love how they easily wipe clean.

We noticed a small bit of thermofiol shrinkage over the coffee maker. Now we pull the thing out from under the cabinet when brewing. Problem solved.
