Has anyone purchased their sheets? Worth the money?

We are expecting our Boll & Branch Delivery on this coming Friday. We tried The Mr. Pillow Sheets first, they are OK but not great. Mr. Pillow is also half the price.

We have friends who are as tight as a crabs butt and twice as waterproof and Boll & Branch is all they own and swear by them. So I'll let you know. They have to be great because the order came from a great part of N.J.

Are they cool and crisp? Are they returnable? I dislike smooth sheets or the no-iron sheets. They're too hot.

Given the amount of time of ones life is spent in bed, there are two things (to me)...where price becomes secondary.

That being the mattress...and the bed sheets/pillow cases.

While the Boll & Branch ones we've owned are very nice and hard to beat, we've found that overall...we prefer the 100% Egyptian Cotton from Mayfair Linen (#13 in the link).

The biggest thing we love about them, especially living in Florida and me being a 'furnace'...is their awesome breathability.

That they are also relatively reasonably priced, which not having to pay high-priced spokespersons probably helps in that regard...makes them a great buy in my book.

Everything you wanted to know about bed sheets...AND more. (poke here) :D (http://supercomfysleep.com/best-bed-sheets/)

I also like their return policy, which thankfully...we've never had to use. :ho:

I miss the Percale sheets I grew up with and also used when we first were starting out. NOW can't find any that are comparable since textiles have been out-sourced.

I laughed out loud at the person who asked if they required a battery or did anything special. I'll check out what everyone is recommending!!!

I see many comments about different types of sheets and specifically, Boll and Branch sheets are mentioned, but no one has mentioned Bamboo sheets.
They are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

They are a "green product," softer than 1,000 Egyptian cotton, naturally odor resistant, hypoallergenic. They are not inexpensive, but Boll and Branch probably wins the prize for being up there price-wise.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned and are aware of Bamboo sheets. One caveat, however. Do not ever buy them as a bamboo blend. They must be 100% bamboo and they are simply wonderful.

Thanks for your review on this. I was looking at sheets recently and wondered about them. It also appears as if they are wrinkle-resistant. Do you find this to be the case?

We are on the cusp of our Domestic Research on The Bed Sheets.

1) Sams 800 thread, GARBAGE.

2) My Pillow, not too shabby and the price was around $100. Not too bad.

3) Forgot to start the washer before so a delay on The Boll & Branch
Test. I looked thru the Beautiful Box they were delivered in and for the life of me, I couldn't find any BATTERIES included. Not even out of the dryer yet and the first report is they are badly wrinkled. Ut Oh!

In NOTHING but my defense, I am sorta Technologically Challenged and our Washing Machine can be turned on by Cell Phone. Why this is necessary is beyond me. Unless its for a bonehead who forgets to start the Washer and realizes it when HE (Me) get to the Square. I also put a Camera on the Garage door so I can check to see if its closed when I can't remember if I did it. Back to the Sheets. Thanks, CowGirl. These better pass Mrs. Nucky From Consumer Reports.

I have two sets and not made by the same company. I think being wrinkle resistant has to do with the depth of your mattress and the depth of the contour sheet itself.

I don't care what they look like when I fold them. But I am very happy once they are on the bed. Yes, they are smooth as silk.

The Boll And Branch Sheets get the Mrs. Nucky Seal of Approval. That's after only One Night. I've been trying to get the same Seal Of Approval for over 20 Years. Once on the bed, wrinkle-free, the sheets also and they are cool and way different than anything I've ever slept on before. The price all in with an extra set of Pillow Cases was $262. They had a special $50 off on the day we purchased.

The order was due on Monday and instead, we slept on them on Friday Night. Underpromise & Overdeliver. 4 Thumbs Up!

We have been buying Comfort Zone sheets for couple of years. No iron (I don’t remember my mom ever ironing them, and no batteries needed).
Every time we have company always ask what brand. Even the boys noticed them, so that in itself is a great review. I buy online.

For those of you who say you miss percale sheets, what you have been buying for many years now IS percale.

Why the name/word percale has vanished from the face of the earth, I don't know.

When the name/word percale vanished from the face of the earth . . . . . Well, I don't know that either!

Percale is simply a type of weave of over 180 threads per inch.
Now, with that knowledge, everyone should be feeling and sleeping better!

Do people really iron their sheets?

Back in the late 1940s and early 1950's my mother used a large mangle to iron sheets. I think she stopped when permanent press or the like came out. All I remember is the mangle disappeared one day. It was much longer than the one in this video, or at least seemed so to me.

My mother had one of those. She did all our sheets, underwear, and my father's work shirts. It also looked bigger than the one on your video. And I too don't know what happened to it. Also, I always thought "mangle" was a funny name for something that irons things flat.

My bamboo sheets could use a mangle. But I got a Miele drier instead with a steam dry function. The sheets come out dry but not over dry and not so wrinkled, like what a cloth steamer would do.

We have a set. They are very soft and get softer every time they're washed. Very comfortable. Maybe we're not following the laundering instructions carefully enough, but they come out of the dryer pretty wrinkled (although once back on the bed and smoothed out, most of the wrinkles are gone).

I called Boll & Branch today about this issue. They are aware of the price difference and I believe they know the answer why the Ebay product is cheaper but as any good company should do they wouldn't say a peep about Ebay. More or less they said find out for yourself.

Now I tried Ebay and got zip, zero, zilch. That's it that's the price the person selling has no complaints and they didn't seem to care.

I'm going to pay the freight for the real deal from Jersey. Just ordered another set. For the guest room. (Over My Dead Body) The guest gets the Mr. Pillow Sheets. End of story Period. That's if my wife says it's OK! :1rotfl::1rotfl:

I've been buying and selling on eBay for over 20 years. Knockoffs are illegal and eBay does a pretty good job of deleting those type of listings and getting rid of the sellers who try to sell their bogus items.

In all my years' experience, having made thousands of purchases, I have never purchased an item that was not as it was purported to be. In addition, eBay stands up for buyers who have an issue with a seller and the buyer will always get their money back when the seller is wrong.

What kind of problem have you had or is this just a supposition on your part???

You really didn't expect Boll and Branch to either give you the answer you wanted to hear or actually tell you the truth, did you?

Individuals and small businesses buy closeouts, job lots, and also purchase directly from manufacturers, and then there's the secondary market where items are sold and where a product is drop shipped directly from the manufacturer. And you really think Boll and Branch is going to tell you about any of this???

I'm not really sure what you are saying here. What do you mean when you said "you tried eBay," etc. ?

Over a hundred dollars difference in price is quite a lot of money and fishing around is sometimes the way to find an answer. I am not really that familiar with eBay so I finally did speak with a person and asked how something they were selling could be so much less money? Probably have used them twice in the last 15 years.

I made both phone calls with no expectations. I'm thrilled that you revealed the alternative but think I'll stick with Fresh New Hopefully not previously owned sheets. Sorta reminds me of buying a used Tooth Brush because it is cheaper.

The good thing is eBay is on the Radar for other items in the future. Hard to believe I'm sure but since Amazon arrived I put eBay on the family do not deal list. Maybe its time to rethink that strategy.

The price I originally quoted from eBay was $140.00 for brand new Boll and Branch king size sheets . . . brand new, not used.

How could you possibly equate brand new sheets with a used toothbrush??? And isn't any purchase a person makes "personal?"

All listings on eBay are very clear as to the condition of what is being sold. While there are a few different variations of an item being new, the listings are very clear and if you can read English you won't have a problem.

In my mind, a set of brand new sheets for $140.00 compared to what the manufacturer is selling them for is a no brainer no matter how you look at it!

I have been on eBay almost since it began. I have thousands of 100% feedbacks so I know what I'm speaking about.

While many sellers have a return policy, you are still well protected by eBay's policies for buyers.

Good for you; you sound like a smart shopper. Over $100 is better in your pocket than not. Please post a comment as to how you made out when you receive your purchase. I'd be curious to hear how your transaction went.

It would appear that you probably don't make purchases on eBay that frequently.

If you make purchases on eBay "all the time" you would know that may sellers are individuals and not an actual business. These people make purchases to specifically resell items on eBay. This is commonplace and I would venture to say there probably are more individual sellers of this type than actual businesses.

Being aware of this you would already know why a "new" item could come from a smoke and pet free home.

just a follow up. I bought the organic cotton boll and branch sheets and didn't realize they had also have percale sheets. when they came I washed them and they were incredibly soft, but I prefer a more crisp feel. so I initiated a return for the ones I got on line, and it was no problem returning with no shipping fees. I have since ordered the percale so will see how they are. but anyone who is afraid of getting them and not liking them can rest assured they can return within 30 days no cost. also promo code "RADIO" gets you 25% off.

If you want crispy, cool sheets at a reasonable price, and want to order them separately rather than in a set, see these at the Company Store.

Company Cotton(R) Percale Sheets & Bedding | The Company Store (https://www.thecompanystore.com/sheets/company-cotton-percale-sheets-bedding/e4d7-ps-a14.html)

You can buy a set or separately. We use king sheets, a percale duvet cover that doubles as a top sheet (like most hotels), and queen pillowslips. They are sooooooo crispy and cool. I love the plain white. Once I discovered these, I've stopped looking elsewhere. I really don't like soft sheets. I want cool and crisp.

Thanks for your post. We used these for the first time last night. While very soft, to me, they somehow felt scratchy. We had had The Hotel Collection on our bed (from Macy’s I think), which I love but thought the BB ones would be even better. IMO, not so. I initiated a return as well. I look forward to your “percale” report.

I wonder what happens to the sheets that someone, anyone sends back to Boll & Branch? Do they burn them? Do they give them to employees? Do they sell them to people with Smoke & Pet Free Houses who then resell them at a reduced price? That sounds like a reasonable assumption although I have no Concrete Proof. Which brings us back to the main point that the OP was asking. They are fantastic, wonderful but as you already know not cheap and not for everyone which is cool. We have also learned that there are alternative ways to purchase them at a much better price if you are inclined to do so.

If this was Let's Make A Deal, Door #1 Boll & Branch Direct, Most Expensive Route. Door#2 eBay at a reduced price for some reason that we can only assume what that reason truly is. Door #3 Garage Sale, Estate Sale, Family Member or Friend Wills Boll & Branch to you. I would pick Door #1 Each and Every Time Monty Hall! I like New, Undoubtedly Brand New. If I did pick Door #3 I would sell them at a reduced rate on eBay. Happy Snoozing!

The ones CFrance mentioned sound great to me. CFrance were they from the Manufacturer or eBay? I would buy them but we're all set now the new White Queen Size Set with two Extra Pillowcases Showed up today. Beautiful. I guess we answered the OP the hard way!

I agree with the Door No. 1 option. They must be comfortable, because it looks like you feel asleep before finishing your post.

I wondered the same thing. I bet there are lots of charities that can put them to good use. That would be my guess.

OK, I have to admit it, I'm cracking the heck up at some of the comments...in this thread. :1rotfl:

Especially the ones comparing used sheets...to used toothbrushes.

I wonder how many people actually believe, that a hotel buys a new set of sheets for each room...for each new nightly customer?

Or have ever stayed overnight at a friend's house and think the friend went out and bought a new set of sheets just for you...then threw them away after you left?

Or have had a guest at your own house and you bought a new set of sheets...and threw them out after they left?

Here's a newsflash, they have these new-fangled gadgets...called 'washers & dryers.' :D

Here's a pic if you've never previously seen one, or either, of them. :ohdear:

And what's really cool...is they even make matching sets! :22yikes:

These are like mine, that I bought from Costco (I LOVE Costco)...for a really good price.

I agree with everything you said but, but, but ...

If I buy "new sheets", I expect to get sheets that no one has ever slept on -- even if they were washed -- I get finicky about certain things. LOL

But, but, but, as has been stated earlier, if e-bay finds out you are selling a 'used' item as 'new'...they are extremely strict on that kind of thing.

Although I personally have only used e-bay a few times, the extraordinary lengths they go to in protecting the buyer...is the reason they have grown so large.

And yes, I get that we are all sometimes inconsistent...in our 'finickiness.' :D

Almost no one gives sleeping on washed used sheets in a hotel or friends place a second thought...yet seem to draw the line at buying them.

In this case though, I'm thinking (given the number of sets the buyer is advertising, with no complaints of being 'used') that they are actually...new, as advertised.

But hey, it's always our choice to pay a lot more for the exact same thing somewhere else...cause it's the American way.

Heck, a lot of retailers became very successful by charging more, for the exact same product elsewhere, thereby making buyers think they're getting something of higher quality.

Even though, they are...the exact same thing.

The same psychology exists with those who will only buy 'name brands,' even after scientific tests have shown that the lower priced 'house brand'...is either the same or even better.

As the perfect example, in the early 90's, when most golf drivers were still persimmon (some were already aluminum) and selling for about $150, Eli Callaway made the 'Big Bertha' driver out of aluminum and had the audacity...to charge more than DOUBLE the average driver price at the time!!! :22yikes:

Most of the experts claimed that the price was so high...that it would be a huge flop.

Well, guess what...the exact opposite occurred.

HOWEVER, there was the prevailing psychology of golfers, that if it cost that much...it must be worth it.

Admittedly, us golfers can be a strange bunch in trying to find that 'magic' something that will drop 5+ strokes off of our index...but Eli's strategy proved a point.

People will pay a lot more for something, even if it is basically the same as something else, based simply on the thought that since it's more expensive...it must be much better.

I know what you mean. My grandmother started calling me persnickety when I was about 4 years old. Some things never change. :)

Interestingly timely — this morning on CBS Sunday Morning, there was a segment called “Many Happy Returns.”

It was about the liquidation businesses that have been expanded tremendously due to e-commerce and all the returns therein.

I bet you can find it with a Google. (I still never have learned to link on my iPad.)

Many Happy Returns (poke here) (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/many-happy-returns-secondary-market-and-liquidators-reselling-your-returned-stuff/)

What happens to products you buy that you return? And what about the stuff that brick-and-mortar-stores or online merchandisers can't sell? It may end up in the hands of Curtis Greve, a vice president of Inmar, which has 25 facilities and 5,000 employees around the country devoted to processing and reselling goods for what's known as the secondary market.

His company handles "Everything from diapers to dinosaurs," he said.

Truckloads of stuff arrive and leave Inmar warehouses every day. Much of it is merchandise that traditional outlets just can't unload. or outdated seasonal products. But a third of it is customer returns, mostly from online purchases.

"A typical brick-and-mortar store will return about 8% of their sales," Greve told correspondent Rita Braver. "For ecommerce, that can be 25% to 40% in some cases."

Thank you, ColdNoMore, for providing the link to what I was talking about this morning in my earlier post. (I have had this iPad for years and still keep forgetting to learn how to link on it.)

I had just read this thread and was thinking about what BK said so I, too, started wondering about where all those online shopped returns end up.

Then, I turned on the television and there was CBS Sunday Morning answering that very question. Weird, huh?

I like an interesting little segue in a thread sometimes, meandering a bit, just like real conversation.

And now, we know where all that returned stuff goes. Those quickly expanding liquidating businesses are a classic example of “find a niche and fill it.”

I loved the part about the wedding dresses for such a deal that women could not resist the bargain, and bought the dress, even long before they had found their mate.

Anyway, thanks.

So much so in fact, I gave serious thought to go to the site and buy a half-dozen or so right now...for my granddaughter's future wedding.

Which means the advertising was extremely effective and the urge strong, given the fact that she has yet to even have been born...as all I have currently are 3 grandsons. :1rotfl:

Now back to discounted Boil & Branch sheets --

Boomer's link to the secondary "returns" market was interesting and reminded me of another "factoid" that may add additional light on this subject. And that is: Factory Outlets.

I read an article a few years ago that in essence said that due to strong sales at their Outlets, many retailers had items specifically manufactured for their outlet market. So while some of us thought we were getting a "bargain" we were in fact buying an inferior product!

I had read something years and years ago, that most items in the 'brand name' (anyway) outlet stores, were mostly items that were either out of style, didn't sell well, had unpopular prints/designs or had minor imperfections...like a poorly stitched seam or something.

I've also never found the outlet prices, on average, to be that much less than what you could find in the regular stores...especially when on sale.

But I readily admit to not being all that great (or even caring to be) a great shopper, as most of what I've learned has been from my better half...who is a true 'quality bargain finder.'

As for me, I never use coupons (I tried giving my CVS coupons away, but found out they only apply to the purchaser and you can't even give them to the nice lady behind you in line ), look for sales in the paper or even usually compare prices...unless it's a 'big ticket' item.

I just go into the store where I know they have what I'm looking for...and buy it.

And yes, it can cause some marital friction. :D

It's interesting to hear however, that now items are being made specifically...for their outlet stores.
