Does anyone know how the cell service is here in The Villages for At&T?
I have Verizon now and am thinking of switching, iphone, etc.

Well I just did the exact opposite. I have AT&T and the iPhone but have been less than happy with signalling. I have only been here 6 weeks so I didn't cancel it YET but I also got a VZ account, mostly because I wanted to get VZ's brand new, hot of the press, (Apr. 29th) Droid's INCREDIBLE. The iPhone finally has competition and in my opinion, VZ is winning....service and device! I told AT&T how unhappy I was and they said another new tower is being coming on May 27th, he was that specific. I said where and he said not in the Villages, they don't allow towers, but outside the limits but will improve our signalling. Just sharing that information with you.

I have AT&T service and find no problems at all. This AM I started a conference call at my house, drove around TV some, headed to Orlando, call went until half way there and only dropped when I disconnected. I get decent service every place in TV I have been. My better half has Verizon and has problem with service and failure to ring lots of times.

We are not in TV full time. When we have been there, we have not had any signal problems with our AT&T/ iPhone service.

We use AT&T with no problems. I've heard some homes with metal studs have problems with reception, but not sure if it's carrier specific.
Best wishes

I will immediately email Sweetie and tell him your news about a new tower from AT&T. He is always walking outside for his business calls in The Villages and has been thinking about switching services. We live in Hadley.
The information I find here on this forum is awesome.

I have AT&T and have problems around our new house out in Pennecamp. Calls get dropped or don't ring at all, just go to voice mail. Other areas of TV I have no problems. I am thinking about switching to Verizon.

Have used AT&T in HAdley, Bonita and Pennecamp without problems. Could it be the type of phone you have? Every phone uses a little different set up for the antenna, maybe that is more the issue then the service provider. I have yet to find a dead spot anywhere in TV. I am sure there is, but have yet to find it. I use a blackberry for my cell.

We had srpint for a long time... Got rid of them and got The Iphone wth ATT. Never had a problem with Service in TV or surrounding area. My neighbor has Verizon and losses signal here and now he tells me.
You are going to have signal issues regaudless of who you go with for the most part. Kinda like the the ole battle of who is better, Comcast, DirecTV or DISH. same battle just different names.
My sister works for Verizon Corporate. They have company issued Droid phones, but she still has her personal I-Phone. Now rumor has it Verizon will have the I-Phone this summer.
I have lived in Bonita Villas in Bonita for over three years and have never had a problem with my AT&T cell phone. Always shows a strong signal. Made and received calls from all over The Villages and never had a problem with dropped calls, weak signals, etc. It is amazing to read the comments on AT&T service. It is all over the board. Doesn't make sense.

We also live in Bonita and have AT&T service. My Razor phone works fine, but my husband's phone (Panech?) drops calls, doesn't ring sometimes, etc. So sometimes I think it's just the make of phone, and not the service provider.

Every time I'm down there I have problems with my Verizon phone service. I have had problems with 3 different verizon phones. Verizon tried everything but to no avail.
I've had verizon for over 10 years.
When I move down there for good in 419 days, i'll be switching to ATT and the soon to be out 4th generation iphone. I would have had an iphone years ago, but when Apple first offered it to verizon, they said "no thanks", so they gave it to ATT. Dumb move for Verizon.........:ohdear:

Hmm, I always get nicks and cuts with an old razor. My dad has an old Razr phone though, and it works fine.

I had a drop call every day this winter with A T & T in Caroline. I had switched from Verizon to AT & T for the hold over minutes. I certainly did use them!
What is meant by razor phone?

I used to have AT & T, didn't get good reception at all in Sabal Chase, but fine north of 466. I switched to Sprint when I needed a new phone and service contract. If you go to each company's website and look for coverage areas, it shows very specific maps of good and mediocre and bad or no coverage areas. Check for your address, but probably none are perfect everywhere in TV, unless the upcoming tower helps.
I even called AT & T (when I cancelled my service) and they checked and agreed not good service at my Villages address, didn't say anything about an upcoming tower, but this was back in December so maybe they didn't know, or didn't release that info even internally at that time.

We are in Hadley and have both an ATT cell phone and a Blackberry. Service is horrible - dropped calls, no service, etc. If we go to the top of the hill by the mailbox/pool, service is fine.

I've had Sprint and At&t . The reception was lousy , I live in Chatham and had to go outside to talk when anyone called....
Nieghbor said try Verizon which I now have and it solved the problem...reception is wonderful ......Talk to people in your village and find out what works best for them.......
