I just let my local newspaper subscription expire. The price was very good but just too many photos and mainly too political.

Was that The Villages Daily Sun? Does not really have that much political stuff at least when compared to other papers.

It seems to be mostly community news.

Agree that not a lot in there generally, but nice that they let us put delivery on hold during our absences.

I think the only thing political is the editorial page. Besides that, it is a local, community newspaper with many useful features IF you live here.

It's nice when it does get political with the editorials that it leans towards my views. Coming from NY that's refreshing.

I read the paper for local news and to see open houses listed, things going on. For news, I get my news from the internet.

The only articles I like are "Hints from Heloise" and Dilbert, so I don't subscribe. But, I did learn once from Heloise that, if you want to buy a wall unit, it is a good idea to measure your wall before you buy it.

I like to see how many names I never heard of on the Celebrities Birthday list every day. Crosswords are pretty easy also, I usually take 2 or 3 to doctors appointments as I always end up waiting an extra half hour to get in. i also don't find it political at all and there are a lot of interesting articles in there each day.

Things are political only if they differ from one's views.

If they concur, they are just plain old common sense.

I think it's more like .20 cents a day. Jeeze in NY the rag was 2.50 a day and 5.50 for Sunday

Hard to compare, one requires 5 minutes to read the other a couple of days, if you go through the Sunday magazines too.

I agree The Daily Sun is not political except for editorials, which are political in all newspapers. I do miss the political cartoons they used to put into the paper a couple of times per week, always got a kick out of them. Those seemed to stop about a year ago. I love the fact that we can subscribe to the paper and turn our subscription on and off when we are, or are not, at our Villages home (HOW I WISH WE COULD DO THAT WITH THE PRIORITY GOLF MEMBERSHIP)! If you want to read a very political and bias paper, check out just about any newspaper (except for the Boston Herald) published in our home state of Massachusetts up North. The papers are about 80% political content, and about 100% to one side of the isle. Very difficult to read these papers for someone with an open mind.

I let my subscription to the local/slanted paper lapse last year.

After 6 years, I realized that since I wasn't looking for a new house and I was only reading the sports...why even bother with it?

I've found a home delivered subscription to the WSJ, which although doesn't include a Sunday paper...is so much more informative.

The only drawback is, that I sometimes struggle to read all of the articles that interest me...in a single day.

Correct. Big thumbs up!

Aside from the editorials there is less politics than any newspaper I have seen!

Some people project their hatred of those editorals on the whole paper. Life is not all politics for the healthy villager. Most media would be better served covering all news.

The paper is an incredible value.

I respectfully like The Daily Sun.

But I would, knowing me and all. ;)

I think paper newspapers will be a thing of the past in the next 10 years... same thing as phone books, landlines, and many brick and mortar stores... just my humble opinion!

I'm up early, so I just read my neighbors' paper.

Most of the time I return it to their driveway.

I hope in the plastic bag?

The Villages Daily Sun has a lot of very useful sections especially the daily activities at each recreation center-- Zumba-- and the volunteer opportunities on Sunday and the places of worship on Saturdays.

Good to know. When I walk the dog, I'll take your neighbor's paper and put it at your front door.

The Sun is very one sided regarding politics. I subscribe for the local news and puzzles, then receive a national newspaper for balanced viewpoints of more controversial topics like climate, education, and politics.

Just looked at the first 28 pages of Sec A.....which contains 28 pages. Of those 28 pages over sixty percent contain advertising. How about giving us news.

Because it's not really a newspaper.

It's more of a thick daily advertisement of houses for sale by The Villages, with the occasional bone thrown in...to a specific demographic. :ohdear:

Why keep killing trees and filling recycling centers with old newspapers? We get all our news on line from all the major sources. We don't need coupons or ad and ad from surgery, hearing aids, new teeth and golf arts. The Daily Sun is cheap for a reason, mostly advertising with some local news thrown in. Most, if any national news is syndicated.

I enjoy the Local newspaper.
Lots of reminders about what is going on in T V that day!

I am one of those that reads or skim's the paper every day. I ignore the articles or advertising with which I have no interest. The rest of the paper is very informative. However, I would like to see more political articles that cover not only U.S. politics but world politics. There are a lot of things going on in the rest of the world that do or could affect us. We do need more detail about the U.S. rather than just a paragraph or about a topic.

If you don't like the newspaper, don't buy it. It's that simple. If readership falls off then the newspaper staff may make changes. Personally I get enough of the political garbage on the evening news and find it refreshing to read a newspaper that covers pleasant happenings in The Villages.
