As a part time resident of the area, I need to get regular medication infusions for non-cancerous condition. Surely I am not the only one. Can anyone on this group tell me where they go to get infusions and what hoops they had to jump through to get their infusions? Thank you.

I don't know if it will help in your situation but Villages Hospital does infusions... the Infusion Center is on the 4th floor (I think).

Realize, I'm not a doctor and you've not said what your infusions are for.
I had antibiotic infusions twice a day for about two weeks.
I had a pic line installed and we did it at home. That means my wife did it. My sister does have cancer. She too got infusions at home. I understand she did it alone. I would not suggest you do this if you can avoid it. I have no idea how someone could operate the twist connectors they use.
As to jump through hoops. There are procedures for everything.
They will not deliver anything to you without contacting the doctor who ordered the infusion. I would expect they need a written letter. Today while it is expensive, you can arrange same day delivery.
Again, I don't know the details of your condition. Fortunately or perhaps unfortunately, every unique hassle, is not unique and has been conquered before. Perhaps, calling the doctor who prescribed the infusion will get you help on what needs doing and how to get it done.

I am an RN and work per diem in Infusion Services at The Villages Hospital, during "the season". It is indeed located on the 4th floor. I'm pretty sure you must have a doctor down here order what it is you need, and then you would go to the 4th floor for your scheduled infusion. The staff there is GREAT! Very friendly and know what they are doing. Good luck!!

My wife gets monthly infusion with SiMed, there were only in Ocala, now have an office on 441 near the villages, I am sure you will need to be their patient. Also, a few months back I was doing the same search for my wife and came up empty.
Good luck with your search.

Call the provider of the infusion meds and ask. We are snow birds and my wife received infusions of a MS drug at one of the cancer doctor's office near but not in the hospital. Probably easier than going to the hospital.

Thanks to all for your help. Have made arrangements at The Villages Hospital while awaiting appointment at SCImed. The infusion is for RA. AMAZED that the Brownwood Specialty Center had no idea that TVH would do the infusion.
Had made arrangements back in early March to have an appintment with their Rheumatologist in order to have a local specialist along with my home state specialist to oversee my RA and my infusions while in Florida. Saw the specialist. Got the prescription and was referred to the Florida Cancer Center. They wanted me to see their doctor who is not a Rheumatologist and was told that doctor would decide what meds I would get. TVH will honor my specialist's prescription. In the meantime had to return to my home state to get my infusion.
SHOULD HAVE CHECKED WITH YOU FIRST! THANKS AGAIN.

I don't know who told you that the Florida Cancer Center doctor would decide on your meds. My wife was prescribed a medication by her Allergist, and we made arrangements with the FCC to get her injections. We did meet with one of their doctors and never, repeat never did the topic of a different medication come up.
You should spend some time there and see what they do, how they treat their patients, and how fantastic this facility is.

Keep in mind that The Villages Specialty Center in Brownwood and TVRH are not the same organization.
So sorry you had to go back home for the infusion. A family member received a series of antibiotic infusions several years ago at TVRH. The staff there were wonderful and made it as pleasant an experience as possible.
I hope everything works out for you. So many new things to learn when you’re new here. I hope you’re doing well.

OP, just sent you another PM, and another thought occurred to me, maybe your doctor up north can call the doctor hear (i sent you the number), and your records can be transferred to speed the process.
