My wife and are preparing to buy a home in The Villages. We have looked at some homes in Mira Mesa that we are interested in. My question is, how long and how difficult is the trip to either Wal-Mart on a golf cart? I figure if we can comfortably get there, we can get anywhere.

Can anyone tell me some positive aspects about Mira Mesa?

Did I just commit an error? I have 17 posts. Should I have posted this elsewhere?

Golf cart access to the Walmart near 466 and 301 is easy from anywhere in TV. The one on 27/441 is on the wrong side of the highway so I don't think it's possible to get to that one in your cart.

The general area map (free at the Sales Centers) shows where all of the golf cart trails are. Your trip to Walmart will be on some roads with golf cart lanes and some on the trails. Here's what I would do from Mira Mesa:
Head west on Rio Grande, south on Morse Blvd. Turn left onto the path before the gate at Morse and 466. Follow the path under 466, then under Morse Blvd, turn right out of that tunnel onto the 466 trail. When you get t the tunnel under Buena Vista, turn right, then go west on Parr Drive. When you get to Belvedere, turn right onto the path, through the tunnel under 466. You are now headed north on the path next to CR 101. Take the tunnel under CR 101 and wind around on the path until you get to Wedgewood; turn right and follow that to Walmart. When you get to the Golden Corral you will turn left onto a path that tunnels you under CR103, then Walmart is right ahead of you.

I would guess this is about 6-7 miles, maybe 20 minutes in a cart.

The route may sound complicated but once you know where all of the trails and tunnels are, you will be able to get to hundreds of stores, restaurants, recreation centers and everything else in TV in your cart. If you get lost just ask anyone to point you in the right direction.

Yes, you can get to the Walmart on 27/441. Go over the golf cart bridge and go left and follow the trails.

You can post where ever you want to. Welcome to you. I hope you decide to be a villager!

I have friends who live in Mira Mesa. Their home is not like any of the models that have been built recently, it has two master suites and the lanai is on the side of the house. There home is lovely and they like living so close to Spanish Springs.

There are fewer restrictions for yard ornamentation in that village which is a negative for me. Some people don't mind that.

By car the Walmart is very close to you there.

We have already made the decision to be Villagers. We close on our house in NW Ga next Thursday. We have a villa rented for three months beginning June 1st. We intend to purchase during that time. We rented for 2 months last year and hated to leave. We put our house on the market at the end of March this year, thinking it would take a year or two to sell, but we sold it in 8 days. We've been walking on air since then, and looking online at houses every day, several times per day. Can't wait til June 1st!

I messed up that quote. Oops.

Walmart on 441 is an easy trip from Mira Mesa. Across golf cart bridge to end of street cut through at Aldi grocery. Can go to Lowe's also. Even Cracker Barrel. Some of the homes there are very nice. Everything you can think of is close by. It's a personal thing whether you want to live in older section or newer. Can't go wrong as long as it is in the Village.
