I just made an appointment to get new id cards. The first available for our last name starting with an E is July 26. I did not expect a date that far in advance , but now can imagine what it will be like as the snow birds return and the end date comes.

we lost one of ours - or thought we did - and went to the District office on Wedgewood on Friday, April 30th - waiting room was full - it was lunchtime - and still only was about a 20 minute wait and very painless.

I was in a Rec. Center and they were doing the id's. I went in and asked if I needed an appt. The lady said have a seat and 10 min. later I walked out with my new "Green Card". No appointment.

Blue ones are non home-owners who live with the green card holders. Not sure if there are other colors???

If u just walk in with no appointment, they will take appointments first and then the non appointments. Wife and I had no appointment and got our cards in about 15 minutes.

Walking in sounds good! May try that. Can you walk in on any day, or does the first letter of your last name matter?

No. No alphabet restriction. You can stop by any time you want. We stopped by and the wait was longer than we hoped so we left. We will try again some other day.

Thanks to the replies on this board, we went to the service center today. Walked in before the heavy rain, waited about 25 minutes, and walked out, with our new IDs, just as the rain stopped. Just happy to get it done. Pat

about nothin. We stopped at the Wedgewood office today. Took a number in less than 15 minutes done. No appointment needed. Actually it may have been less than 15 minutes. I stopped wearing a watch a few years back, I'am retired. No rush nothing that I have to be too. I adopted this attitude when living aboard our sailboat. Works as a dirt dweller too.

Since we can't get ours easily as we are only in our house for week now and then, it was suggested we wait until Thanksgiving week. By then most folks that are more permanenet residents will have theirs and we were all given a year to transition to the new cards. I guess we might drop by over the summer one day and see if there 's no waiting line get them. Otherwise, we'll get ours at Thanksgiving time.

gingin410, Can you make an appointment for Thanksgiving week? Those with appointments were called to the first empty room.

Now that all of u r getting ur new ID cards, here is the bad news. I have been going to a number of events and half the places I have gone to cannot read my new card with their scanners. Recently, when my wife and I went Line Dancing at Laural Manor, the scanner took about 6 or 7 tries and finally read my wife's card and just told me to go in as they cud not read my card at all. The scanning people there told me they hate the new cards.
