There always seems to be much emphasis on how fast download speeds are and the usual numbers are in the 50-60-100 mps range.

We are currently in the mountains of East TN, in the woods, in the valley by a lake. We have satellite internet (not Hughes).
Download speeds range 15 - 20 mps.

Surfing the internet, watching videos and streaming movies from Netflix and Amazon. Never a flicker or a buffering circle.

So how much is enough and why the emphasis on speeds 50 and above?

I believe but have no proof that its all about The Benjamin's $$$. We have the Comcast Starter Package @ $19.99 a month with our own Router and can stream 2 TV'S, use Two Computers and Talk on Two Wi-Fi Based Cell Phones with No Problemo.

I'm with you Billethkid. I don't know why my kids insist on 100 mps?

Sales pitch pretty much. From my experience, anything around 25 or so is usually adequate for most uses.
