Yesterday, Havana CC had a special event all day from noon to 9pm called Havanastock. Because I'm old, I didn't get the "play on words" but it was an absolutely tremendous event conceived by the GM of Havana and his wife, Kimberly. Everyone was in tie-dyed gear and dressed like hippies, there was face painting and peace symbols everywhere. The entertainment started at noon with Patrick and his stars, Michelle and Scott did folk music, Petrina was there with her upbeat songs and especially my favorite, her Janis Joplin songs, the LaCroix's, Jazzman Steve, lots of karaoke singers and dancing till dusk. They had a b'fast buffet and a bbq outside with ribs, chicken and sausage. It was jammed and the jamming of music was just fabulous. Hopefully this type of event will occur more often, and I would recommend it highly to all you folks. We had a great turnout of people from TOTV and we filled quite a few tables.

I'll keep you advised of the next event and hopefully you can all come over.

Peace, man!!

And FYI... if you're on Facebook, you should become a fan of Havana CC. They do an excellent job of posting information about their special events and daily food specials.

"By the time we got to Havanastock,
We were (a hundred?) strong
And everywhere was a song and a celebration"

Sounds fun, Skinny Lady. Sorry I missed it.

I agree with the assesment. The barbecue was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Havana restaurant has really come up lately.

Loved the pictures. Some of the outfits were to (tie) dye for.

Yes, sure am upset about it. Also upset about a whole change in venue at Havana, all entertainers were let go for now and all music is inside. Talk about caving into the pressure from a few grumps and ignoring the majority of their patrons who liked the outdoor venue's.

I had a petition of over 200 names of people wanting the music outside, but the mgt of Havana caved in and changed everything. Many people not happy, I hope that Havana can survive now with all this disruption. Very sad.

He needs to do a major study of damage control to his establishment and I hope he's heeding the advice from many of his patrons. Kris, are you listening????? Service, Food, and Entertainment need to be looked at.

I don't mind the loud music and dancing, God knows I like there food and happy hour but the two just don't mix. There have already been complaints from diners about the change. I wish things would go back to the way they were. Many of us have supported and defended them in the past. I don't see how they'll survive without the old venue returning. I guess time will tell. Maybe the patio area can be closed in.I've told Kris of the comments on here before maybe he needs to read them himself. As for the complainers if the music ended at 9 PM and was no louder then other music in TV I don't understand why things had to change. 200 vs 25 should win.

I'm very upset with the Havanna problems too. But it all boils down to one problem-CHRIS. He hasn't learned that you can't please everyone. So for maybe 20 well-to-do people living along the golf course he just disregards the preferences of his patrons. People in the Villages buy and sell homes all the time. If these people are really unhappy they should move. He's not breakinbg Sumter County's noise ordenance and they should have expected some noise living there. What if they complained about golf balls on their lawn, would the Villages make people play without balls?
Up north the noise ordinance was 11:30pm and sometimes there were very loud parties, but we had to deal or leave. Chris need to seriously go over his books. Did the nites with entertainment bring him good revenue or not? Seems when he first opened the main complaint was food so he changed that. Is dining his main cash source? He definitely doesn't consider his bar patrons much as he's constantly out of Absolute, Jack Daniels and stuff. He even can't seem to stock diet tonic without a problem. Maybe he should post a sign up sheet at the door - for or against- and see what the people who actually bring him money want. You can't please everyone and I fear he's gonna lose more business than he realizes in the direction he's going.

I agree with the last post. The problems with Havana rest squarely on the shoulders of Kris. It's his restaurant, and if he is incapable or unwilling to get things in order, he should step aside, let TV take over the space, then TV can bring in a 100% new management team, kitchen, and staff who will. From the poor food to the even poorer service to the basic lack of cleanliness (has anyone noticed all the flies at the bar? Eeewwww, yuck!), it all lands at the feet of the owner. But he's never there?!? Real hands on guy, this Kris. Not.

Again, remember that outdoor entertainment is a violation of the lease (according to management). All the petitions in the world aren't going to magically changed what Kris signed his name to, even if Kris didn't read the fine print first. And what kind of businessman doesn't read everything before he signs it? If they arent bringing in the customers with the food, they're going to fail.

And as far as the LaCroix's, they've been playing at The Waterfront on Wednesday's and Saturday's.

The LaCroix's were not fired, or even let go. THEY QUIT! They have since offered to come back to Havana, returning for their fabulous Halloween Show and a night of Christmas Carols, but Havana has not offered them any more dates. They are at The Waterfront on Saturdays. Go and talk to them and they will tell you themselves.
