I am so excited! Put my house on the market, first buyer walked in gave offer I couldn't refuse...so packing up, and will rent for few months while I house shop for new designer model in TV, plan to rent PO box from US Post office while I am renting. USPS.com shows 2 options for PO box rental close to Hemingway: on County Rd 201 in Oxford (zip 34484) and on Teague Trail in Lady Lake (zip 32159). Cost is $8-$10 cheaper in Lady Lake, not sure why - suggestions on which I should go for, given location or what you know about the 2 areas? Both have similar business hours M-F and Sat. Thanks so much for your input, really appreciated. Want to reserve online and appreciate your response. Can't wait to join you at the Crispers luncheon when I am there this Summer,,,,fun time!!

I think the Fruitland Park Post Office is closer to Hemingway. Just go south on Morse or Canal and turn left on 466A. It is on 466A before you get to 441/27.

if you're going to be renting for several months, why not use the rental house mailbox? I initially had my mail forwarded to Ohio for 6 mos, just to make sure all my mail came where it was supposed to (and not to my Villages home, as I wasn't living there yet, only renting it and using it for vacations). I set up all my utilities and accounts with my Ohio mailing address. Only had a couple of things that ended up in my Villages mailbox. I have never renewed the original forward order.
This might not work if the landlord just recently purchased the home and has an existing forwarding order, but as long as you check I don't see where the problem would be.
Have had tenants receive mail there if they were going to be there awhile. Don't think there have been any problems. I check the mailbox every time I'm there, and never seem to get mail - rarely even any junk mail (how do they do that)? Once a personal letter came to my tenant who had just left the week before - I just forwarded it to her. Again, not a problem.
Once I know our actual move date for this fall when we retire, I'll change everything to The Villages address and put a forwarding order at this end.

My rental contract said I could not use the owners' mailbox for forwarded mail.

if it's a private owner, I would double check. I just can't see where the harm would be, unless the owner has another place in the Villages and does get mail at the rental office. Maybe it's just some standard rental contract they copied.

Really appreciate your quick and thorough responses .... place I am renting doesn't allow me to use their mail box either, which is quite understandable. I will be renting for 2-3 months (possibly longer should I decide to build) and will have sold/relocated from the North. Need to get my personal mail "somewhere" and it appears to me, based on previous posts I've read on TOTV, that the USPS PO rental boxes is my best choice. I am fine with that, more comfy knowing mail will continue to go to the PO box for a few weeks after I move into my new home until all change of addresses are fully processed and sent to the new address.
Thanks again for all your help, I so appreciate it. See you soon y'all!

The Villages Pack N Ship is the closest mailbox center to the village of Hemmingway. While it is not officially a USPS office, they offer so much more. We used them while we rented in Hemmingway during the process of our home being built. If you plan to check your mailbox on a daily basis, this will be your most convenient option.

I forgot to wish you WELCOME, Gardenia.
I sell items on ebay and will make the trip to the post office daily in the fall when dancewear is really selling. I don't find it inconvenient and there is a Walmart in Leesburg not too far away if you take the road next to the post office, turning right off 466A (south) on it. That Walmart is not quite as spiffy as the newer ones in The Villages but it has flowers that are better taken care of and different items there than the two Walmarts in TV,too. When we first came here it was the only place that I could find artist's canvases.
Just for your information.
And back to welcoming you. I think you have made the right decison and we G's are working hard here in Ohio to prepare our home for sale so that we too can live year 'round in Paradise.
Kindest wishes and a huge warm welcome, Gardenia.

I live in Amelia and like Gracie use the P.O. in Fruitland Park or the Pak & Ship at Colony Plaza (a little expensive but convenient). If you go to Fruitland Park be careful the first couple of times or you might drive right by it. On the left just before the light.
Welcome also.

I go to the Fruitland Park PO and the Wildwood PO, both about the
same distance from Hemingway, about 6 miles or so (?) The
Lady Lake PO just off 27/441 is and not much farther, BUT, lots
more traffic. If you choose Wildwood you can keep up with the
construction going on which is going to put Hemingway residents
in a more strategic location.
Hope this helps.

The Wildwood PO is in a shopping center on 301 where there is an Ace Hardware, a Radio Shack and the office where you get your drivers license, car registration etc. Very convenient.
About the same distance as the Fruitland PO. By the way, that PO closes at 3 p.m.
