A one year old was killed when a golf cart rolled over. In didn't happen in here, but given the number of toddlers and small children being held in the hands of adults while riding in golf carts-it will happen here too !!
This practice should be outlawed.

It is just a matter of time. Can’t believe why anyone thinks holding children thinks it is a safe practice

People and their loved ones often get hurt in motorized vehicles.

We should not encourage people to do dangerous activities, but do we want to have a bunch of laws to prohibit everything that is risky?

Caused by a real bad pothole on a private road.

It was caused by stupidity of a parent who thinks they can hold a child a child in the event of an accident--theres a penalty for having a child in a car without a proper seat & restraint system and the odds of car rolling over are very slim in The Villages

The facts or circumstances in these tragic accidents are important. The golf cart flipped over after hitting a pothole on a private road. Probably because the golf cart driver had not been on that road before.

Each year about 100 children are killed and 254,000 are injured as a result of bicycle-related accidents. Be cautious when trying to tell parents how to raise their children. Death of toddlers due to golf cart accidents does not make the top 100 list. Car, bicycle, drowning and accidental gun incidents are major causes of death to toddlers. Start by removing guns from the home where children live.

I am very sad that any child died due to a golf cart accident but it did not happen here and I know of no fatal accident involving a golfcart with children here, although there have been more than 15 fatal golf cart accidents here in the last dozen years and dozens of golfcart accidents that have injured people.
Here is a study published in Newsmax on Golfcart accidents involving children Nationally. We cannot be too careful. In Florida, you can legally be fourteen to drive a golfcart.

This said, many people enjoy driving golfcarts here in The Village and I am one of them and last I heard Chatbrat is not.
I think I heard somewhere around 70,000 people own golfcarts here.
Best to not drink and drive...……..anything.

I think just by luck more dogs aren't killed in TV. Everytime I get my mail, there is somebody with their dog sitting on the front seat of their cart as they pull in or pull out. They sell these on Amazon, if you got seat belts for yourself in your cart, this will work.

Here's a whole page of harnesses for sale

We have laws that make it illegal not to have a child in a car seat, and cars are safer than golf carts. IMO there's nothing wrong with extending those child safety laws to golf carts. I don't see it as prohibiting risky behavior; I see it as eliminating stupid behavior.

And providing protection for those that cannot protect themselves...if enforced. Not a lot of that in TV

We had guests with small children who wanted to take a ride in our golf cart. I wouldn't allow it.
Anyone can do that. A law prohibiting it would be stronger.
We gratefully have not had any accidents involving children here in The Villages in the 13 years we have been here. Even with all 70K plus golf carts. It is hard to know what is the best course of action.
