Though many residents have begun travelling out of the area, the daily need of pet food does not leave for the nearly 225 dogs and cats receiving meals through YOUR Humane Society SPCA's "Kibbles" Free Pet Food Pantry program throughout Sumter County. This is in addition to the daily need at the no-kill shelter for the approximately 200 rescued dogs and cats. The shelter's specific needs are for dry Purina ONE dog/puppy and cat foods, and IAMS Proactive Healthy Kitten dry food. Monetary donations for the dry pet food can also be by cash, check or donated securely online at hsspca.org/donate (https://www.hsspca.org/donate).

Claudia Labbé, the shelter's Public Relations Chairperson, pointed out "during the summer season, we face a difficult time when so many leave the area and we experience a drop in donations. It is just when we see a rise in the need of food and monetary donations due to 'kitten season' and the fast approaching 'puppy season' as well. So we are asking our community for a show of support in preparation of this. Our pantry is greatly depleted of dry pet food right now. We are concerned for the nearly 225 dogs and cats who rely on their monthly pantry allotment to not go hungry along with the approximately 150 kittens and cats along with more than 40 dogs and puppies in our care. Larger scale efforts by local neighborhoods, clubs and businesses during the summer months ahead will make a big difference during this urgent time of need. We thank everyone in advance for their caring and support!"

In The Villages/Wildwood area, donations can be dropped off at:
PAWS Animal Hospital,
both Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital locations,
Whole Earth Pet Supply,
both WoofGang Bakery & Grooming locations,
Sparr Bldg. & Farm Supply.
Donations can also be dropped off at YOUR Humane Society SPCA on CR 529A in Lake Panasoffkee, Mon.-Sat. between 10am-2pm. Mailed donations can be sent to:
YOUR Humane Society SPCA
PO Box 67
Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538
or securely online at hsspca.org/donate (https://www.hsspca.org/donate). Call 352-793-9117 for more information on how you can help.

Thank you for your kind words and generosity but it really is the community that makes all the difference supporting the necessary work through adopting, donating and volunteering.
Your donation will come in handy as yesterday YOUR Humane Society SPCA also just took in 17 puppies and dogs from a family in great need of help when all the area shelters & rescues told them "no admission" being full. We were too but we knew this would be catastrophic for so many lives in jeopardy. I'll be posting it here shortly but it is on our Facebook page also: Friday, May 31st, YOUR Humane Society... - YOUR Humane Society SPCA | Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/YourHSSPCA/posts/10156386185621365)
Thank you!
Claudia
