An Arizona utility that provides 25% of Los Angeles electric power has countered the Mayor of L.A. by suggesting he back up that city's boycott of Arizona goods and services by divesting themselves of Arizona power. It is tragic that states have been pitted against each other by this administration while a lame, egotistical, immature ideologue in the People's House threatens to widen the divide with Federal legal action. Where is the uniter we were promised?
Instead of bringing people together for solutions to a real immigration problem, the Obama administration plays and pits Americans and states against each other. What happened to those lofty campaign promises about bringing people together in the interest of the country. Why isn't he working with California and Arizona in their mutual interest instead of fanning the flames that divide them?
How? For starters, why doesn't Obama:
Form joint Federal, State and Local task forces to coordinate resources on tactical and logistical solutions to the problem. Deploy joint manpower resources to problem areas. State and local entities are intimately familiar with border issues and the Feds working with supplemental manpower resources could maximize their collective effectiveness.
Assign Justice Department Lawyers to Arizona to prepare and instruct a mandatory in-service training for law enforcement officers on the Arizona law regarding immigration concentrating on eliminating potential abuses. This could be done with a comparatively modest investment of time and capital.
Organize a special judicial unit to exclusively hear and adjudicate claims of abuse to ensure speedy justice.
Of course if you paid attention o Rahm Emanual's management tenet regarding not letting a good crisis go unexploited ...you can only imagine what this diversion is really all about. Pandering for votes comes to mind. Distracting from the real cost of Obamacare, cap and tax, VAT, and other assaults on American Democracy are conceivable to the open minded.
