The irrigation system was spewing water nonstop.
I think something got hit with today’s storm.
My neighbor came and he shut off the power breaker to the irrigation system and water, thank goodness, stopped.
My question:
Should I call a plumber, an electrician or an irrig system person?
If this has happened to you, how did you solve the issue?
Thanks in advance . :)

Most likely one or more valves have malfunctioned and need to be replaced. Need an irrigation system company to come out and fix it.

When you say spewing water non stop, what do you mean? All zones at once? One sprinkler spouting a geyser? If you know how, I would shut it down, reprogram the start times and restart. May not be the big problem you think.

What is interesting about this is your neighbor caught this. I could have been it would not have been caught until you received the bill.

If all this is true then you could benefit from a water monitor which would text you that you had a leak.

Another recommendation for Joe Tucker. Fair pricing and thorough. However, I'm not sure if you need an electrician, a plumber or an irrigation person.

I have used both Joe Tucker and Jim Baumgardner, and would recommend either one, great service and prices.

No need for an electrician--the box plugs in--everything else is low voltage

Good advice
So do I get the water monitor from an irrigation service?

You get the Flume water monitor from Amazon. If it senses a leak you get an email. 10 minutes of your time for a diy task. No plumbing.185.00.

I know that I used precisely 4,291 gallons this month, before all the rain came

After one emergency like yours when the water wouldn't shut off, I started having the system checked twice a year. The sprinkler heads always get knocked askew or broken by the lawn mowing crews and it's not like I'm awake at 3am when the watering is done to notice problems.
