Kris Hale. Nice guy, cheaper than others, always there, never an issue.
I only use them for lawn mowing, I have others weed and feed.
I let go my first company after some issues. Got an estimate from Kris, have used him for 18 months.
Zero issues to date.
If you use him, tell him Alan and Linda from Mallory say hello......
and :welcome: to TV!!

They will know, in Buttonwood you will likely have Empire Zoysia and will be once a week.
A good site for educating yourself about the grass: http://empireturf.com/ under the maintenance link.

We do our own....When we purchased lawnmower, we were told to raise lawnmower to high for st. augustine....We spread Scotts Turf Builder every other month, water twice a week and are happy with results....I know that this is not always an option BUT if you hire a mow & blow guy, it would be nice if he doesn't use a riding mower but more specifically, hope he doesn't race up and down the yard leaving rutts on the hair-pin turns...:loco:
Boy did u hit the nail on the head. the biggest complaint I have with the lawn cutters is they do ur lawn at 60 MPH. Same with the people who fertilize; 60 miles an hour. When I get back to The Villages from the summer vacation, I am getting rid of them and will do the lawn myself.

Don't care where you live... it's the same all over. Faster they cut, more lawns they can cut in a day, all boils down to $$$ or if they're working for someone else, the earlier they finish their quota for the day, the earlier they get to go home.

In fairness to all the mowing guys out there, while it's true that they shouldn't be racing around your yard, they generally do a good job, have more knowledge about your grass than many "up north," and try to be conscientious.
My guy has been doing Villages yards for nearly ten years; mine for more than five. During the winter, no more than every other week; this past winter he skipped several weeks in a row, as the grass (St. Augustine) was sooooo stressed. In season, once a week, but he's sometimes missing a week here and there because the winter was so hard on the grass and it is now so dry that it's not growing as it should.
Yes, fuss and holler if they tear up your lawn, but I think you can, for the most part, trust their knowledge. That said, I'd avoid anyone who offers you a monthly deal of less than $35, because I don't think that's reasonable.

I cut my own yard because I like and need the exercise. Some of my neigbors were really getting poor service from their lawn service. They would cut short and would not raise their machines. They also go veryfast and sometimes the cutting bed would dig in and scalp the yard.
I offered to do some of my neighbors yards and now I cut a few. I use a selfpropelled walk behing Lawn Boy just like back up North and I cut at about 2.75" which my neighbors like much better. This spring has been dry and the grass is doing better than when it was cut short.
I also think you can not beat Scotts. I spread 4 times a year and use the soyzia turf builder. Some times I use the weed and feed if weeds are coming through the grass. Usually about once a year.

I love to keep our yard pretty in Ohio. Sweetie and I take turns cutting the lawn with a self propelled push mower. Most of our neighbors hire it done. We have someone do it for us in TV right now but if ever we live there full time, we hope to care for it ourselves. We also added to our landscaping ourselves. Once you dig through the tough Zoysia, it is NOTHING to dig a hole in the sand, drop in some Rapidgro and then the plant or shrub. They grow like weeds in the tropics if you keep them watered.
I guess I never outgrew sandbox. Some people like to mess with the yard hands on and some don't. The yards are so small, it isn't much work.
