The last week or so I have gone out to play on the executive courses a few times after 6. With it being light enough to play until 830 or so that is not an issue at this time of the year and there are actually quite a few playing. I don't think there are ambassadors on the courses at that time and it is evident. Here is what I have seen.

1) First time - A single guy playing behind me at Diablo. He was two holes behind me and in 3 holes he caught up to me. How is that possible since I was playing alone? Well, he was driving his cart on the course right up to the green. This is on a day when it rained heavily in the afternoon and the starter said golf cart path only to me when I checked in. He had no physical handicap that I could see and I did not see an RA tag on his cart.

2) Second time was tonight at Diablo. Non-RA carts both in front of me and behind me were both driving on the course. The guy behind me would walk through traps without raking etc Lady in front of me was playing 2 balls and we waited several times for her to finish a hole because of it even though she knew we were waiting. .

So what is this ? Entitlement, lack of the knowledge of course etiquette, not caring about the courses or just a general lack of consideration for fellow golfers ? Probably a little of all of the above is my guess. These will probably be the first people to complain about the courses also when they aren't in good shape. BTW, the greens tonight on Diablo were spectacular !

Probably didn't repair pitch marks either.

From what I've heard and seen...many folks have no idea of golf etiquette nor do they care. They feel they pay their amenity fee so therefore they have privileges. It's been said that a large % of the people don't have great golf skills neither ( they just took up the sport upon moving here)....so that plays into slowness on the course. How many people have you heard say---"I'm no good but I go out for the fun of it!"??

Could have been Snowbirds who sneaked back in.
After all, they cause all the damage and accidents in TV! :icon_wink:

OP I feel your pain. The sense entitlement by some is mind boggling.

Last night we had to quit on Hibiscus champion. Played 3 holes 20-25 mins per hole. Guy in front pllaying 4 balls and had an instructor, 4 ladies in front of them were clueless and starting from too far back instead of friendly tees. Tried to jump ahead and the whole course was backed up to hole 8. We played 8 and went onto 9 and waited, waited, waited. Foursome not playing ready golf and taking their sweet time. People from #7 caught up to us and we quit because we didn't want them waiting for us where we jumped ahead. Total disaster for the 2 of us after paying to play. We had the last tee time at 6:04 and if we had stayed we'd probably still be out there. Went into dinner and don't you know the 4 ladies got the table next to us because they finally quit to meet their husbands for dinner. They must have played and quit on hole 5. Ambassadors have to start doing something other than just offering water.

That is why they are called ambassadors not rangers. They are powerless to do anything

Just saw a cart drive all the way up to the green's edge, let his wife or whoever out taking 2 steps so she could putt.

PLEEEEEEEEEASE CONTINUE TO RAISE PRICES FOR GOLF, GET RID OF THE TRASH THAT CONTINUES TO CALL THEMSELVES GOLFERS!!!!!!!! Yes it is yelling so maybe the people will get a clue. Was at The Masters this year and it was so refreshing to see a golf facility that did not tolerate people that did not learn the rules, etiquette and sportsmanship of golf.

Another problem is those who damage and abuse the courses are the same ones that complain when they are in bad shape. They think the fairways and greens heal themselves over night and little fairies come in and rack the traps so it looks nice for them to come in the next time the play and illegally,,,,illegally damage and discard the rules of our courses.

I’m not sure the ambassadors would help with any of this. Saturday the local cable guy showed up later than expected so my husband sent me on ahead with all the clubs to make our tee time with friends. I told the starter shack my husband would be joining us late. When he arrived the ambassador offered to run him out to us. aswe were driving away from the green on the cart path the ambassador ran across the par three and over the fringe, almost onto the green, to get him to us. It was very sweet they brought him to us, but I’m not sure they understand the cart path rules either.

A man playing in front of me, kept driving his cart , onto the green. After two holes, I drove up to let him know, very politely, that he shouldn’t be doing this & why. He told me to mind my own business. The ambassador wasn't anywhere around, so I called the starter shack to report this man. The ambassador showed up, watch them from a distance, after seeing the man drive onto green, he went & talked to the man. The man must of got mad and he left.

If you experience any type of extreme slow play etc., bizarre behavior, call the starter shack. The phone # is on the score cards. This is the most effective and diplomatic way to handle these situations. I learned the hard way.

You just can't fix stupid. But at least you have given real golfers some ammo to stop stupid.

Unfortunately, I see this every day and not only on the golf courses. Too many people feel like they are entitled to do whatever they want, drive however they please and be rude to whoever they come in contact with.
