While in my car I came up behind a good looking cart that looked like a hot rod. He was passing all the other carts and being courious I clocked him at 31MPH on the GPS. My question Is what could he have done to get that kind of speed? Was he most likely electric or gas?

Anything over 20 is illegal, anything over 25 is out right dangerous. I am not trying to avoid the question, I just think it is very dangerous.

First question is was he going downhill?

Next question should not be how does he goes so fast, but rather who can I call to turn him in? Sorry, people who drive like that really :censored:

Perhaps the cart is street legal?

If this happened on a multimodal path, street legal carts are still required not to exceed 20 mph.

He was on pretty level ground on O'Dell if I remember correctly, going westbound.

We were in TV yesterday and I wanted to see how fast a particular cart was going. It was 30 mph. I am not sure if it had plates on it, however. But it was on TV property.

During a VHA meeting, a rep from the Sumter County Sheriff's office stated that the speed limit on multimodal paths for ALL golf carts is 20 mph. He did state that their officers cannot issue speeding tickets to carts on these paths, but that they can issue tickets for reckless driving which would include speeding.

The speed limit may be 20 mph. But my cart goes 20 mph and people constantly pass me, some of them flying by and out of sight!

This is my biggest fear of the widening of the cart paths north of 466!! When I drive over to LSL, once I go through the tunnels to the south side, I feel like I am on Rt 80 in NJ!!

I am expecting to hear that people are having drag races with their golf carts out on some nearby country road at midnight. (whoops, make that ten o:clock)

We just keep getting younger and younger down here.

Graciegirl,
How about a golf cart only drive-in with cart hops?

I believe I can get to Sonic Drive-In with my golf cart. Sonic has carhops on roller skates and curb services.

Since the cart only drive-in is at the polo field, it is going to be awfully hard for the carthops to skate on the polo field!!!

THAT'S GOOD! Maybe we should have them rename Lake Shore Drive, THUNDER ROAD.

Remember, some time ago, I started.....ah I mean, I heard a rumor that there were going to be stock cart races every Saturday night around the polo field. They were even (I heard) going to offer vinegar with the french fries at the concession stand. TOTV was going to sponsor one of the super modifieds.

Well, you know whose cart it was, don't you? It belongs to the little ole lady from Pasadena.

Go granny, go granny, go granny, go!

I know that you can have your cart modified to go faster. I think Sta-Rite golf carts in Fruitland Park does some modifications to increase speed.

Everyone seems to have feelings one way or another about making a golf cart go faster. No one has expressed concerns about having the ability to stop when a golf cart is modified. If you want to soup up your cart fine, just make sure your brakes are modified so you can stop when needed. Stopping a golf cart from 19.9 is a lot easier than stopping one from 30. Nuff said

Fast shmast, who cares? "To each his own" As for me, I like to leave a little early when I take my cart somewhere. I just meander along and take in all the sights of this beautiful place that I have been blessed to live in. If someone comes up behind me I do all that I can to help them to pass me. As they go bye I wave, I wave with my whole hand, and they wave back with only one finger, strange but, I figure it must be some kind of a local custom. Oh well, happy motoring everyone.

Geez, my memory of route 80 is that of a parking lot.
