Air conditioner cement platform

Does anyone know of someone that can level the cement pad under an air conditioner? Our air conditioner sounded wierd the other day, making a whooshing noise. I checked and the housing is not level so the fan has to work harder. Has anyone had a problem like this?

Why not just shim the AC unit level?

That is worth a try. The unit seems to slide around a bit on loose sand so I should be able to shim it up.

missy....if you bought a new house and are within the first year, contact the warranty department. We had a similar issue when we moved in and they came out and leveled it and anchored it down better.

This house is 9 years old so no warranty for us. Actually our a/c unit is not even anchored on the slab at all. I can push it around. What should I use for shims, regular wooden shims would rot.

Try to get help to bolt it down first using wedge anchors.

Home depot has pressure treated shims that will not rot. Can you slide it on the concrete pad? Or does the concrete pad move? If the pad is solid, shim it level then anchor it to the pad.

Maybe it is just me but I would call my A/C maintenance person and let him fix the problem. That is what they are there for.

I would try the shims, that is the cheapest way to work the problem. If that did not stop the noise, then maybe you got a problem with the unit. Then I would call the Pro's and have them check out the system. But why pay for a house call when you might be able to nick the problem your self and save money.
