Whole House Surge Protection and Lightening Rods

Just purchased a new home which already has Lightening Rods and I was inquiring about having someone install a whole house surge protection system. I'm finding that not only a whole house surge protection is necessary but a cable surge system as well, which is an additional cost.

Also, planning for a new roof installation suggestions as what to do with the lightening rods, keep or remove.
