Sounds like you did what we did. Bought the property and now have to sell your current home. We're trying to get our house on the market now. Hopefully, it will be ready by July 1.

Congratulations on your purchase! TV is a fabulous place, can't describe it, people have to see and experience the adventure for themselves. We are new, too, closing mid-June and so excited!

Good luck with selling your home, it will all work out. See you in TV sometime soon!

CONGRATULATIONS to All! How wonderful and exciting! We just went through it but we sold our home up north first. We put all our stuff into three PODS and came down and moved into our rental. We hit-the-ground-running looking at spec houses and pre-owns. After only one week, we decided to build in Buttonwood. We move in at the end of July. All the very best to you! :beer3:

The PODS were 8 x 8 x 16. Our need for 3 wasn't volume...it was weight. My DH has lots of tools and shop equipment which needed divided up because of the weight. We originally ordered two as we did sell a lot of our furniture and it would have fit albeit for the weight. We ended up with 3 not-completely-full PODS but peace of mind that they didn't exceed the weight requirements. One word of advice...when they tell you an 8x8x16 will hold 10,000 pounds, that is the gross weight. You can actually only put in 7,500 pounds...or they call you and bring it back. :o Yes...that was our personal "oops" and did cause some very anxious moments. Take heart though that they told this "never" happens but then again, my husband is not your normal Villager. :girlneener:

That makes me feel better. That must be one heck of a shop.
Yup...it was, if I can brag on him a little bit. Now, he is looking forward to setting up his new shop. This is a picture of his work bench ready to load in the PODS:

Looks like the vehicles will be fighting for space in the garage? LOL
:D I hope not. He's been planning and planning and assures me the cars AND golf cart will fit. We shall see...:p

OK, what am I doing wrong? I can't see the picture of the shop. Am I overlooking something?

Yes, I've had coffee - two 24 ozers. And, what pictures? I can usually figure these things out, but this has got me buffaloed.

Glad you were able to see the picture. That happens to me sometimes here. Yup...it's one big bench...10 feet long with an aircraft aluminum top. He put it on wheels and it still took two people to load it into the PODS. I kept telling him to build a new one in our new house but he just couldn't part with it. You know how us gals think and plan how we're going to place our furniture? Well, he has a floor plan on where each tool will go.

Or, you can sell all your furniture, and buy wonderful gently used furniture at a fraction of the price when you get here. Worked well for us - our fellow Villagers were very generous and we had quite a selection to choose from within 2-3 days. It couldn't have worked out better - now we just need a king bedroom suite (no mattresses) and a computer armoire.

Good luck with the move!

Hi There - can you share recommendations on where you bought your gently used furniture. Personally - I don't want to bring furniture I have from current residence - I want to sell what I can and start anew. Thanks much!
