I tried it tonight with my wife. Great waitress (Pamela). Real nice atmosphere. Cold beer and cost of food and drinks is good. Unfortunately I ordered the 10 OZ New York Strip. This meat was at best horse meat. It was only about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick. Now I must say, the cook did his best and flavored it into submission, but NY Strip. Not even close. Too bad, as this club is close to the house and has real nice parking etc. Oh well, its back to Cane Garden or Lopez Legacy. Both of them have been great food. I will still golf Havana as a priority member and maybe hang out at the bar with friends, but will have to pass on dining until I hear of change of management or at least change of food supplier.

I had a very good mussels dish and Linda had the 'Villager special' Chicken Fried steak which were both very good.
Breakfast there was only so-so.

The guy who I golfed with last week, who has lived here for 10 years, told me that all of the beef served at TV country clubs and other restaurants owned, operated or controlled by TV is raised locally, right here in TV. Can't comment on the truth of the matter, cuz I don't know--- just repeating what he said.

My question is did you complain to anyone about the food? If not it won't change the end result. Wife & I had the N Y Strip last week it was great.

We live in Duval and do frequent Havana at least once every other week or so. Two weeks ago they ran out of Sangria, last week they were out of Coors Light, and when they had their "barbeque", they ran out of Propane. The food has not been very good and their nightly specials leave a lot to be desired. I really think there is a management problem here. A restaurant should not be running out of food and liquor every time you are there. Something is wrong! Don't think we'll be going back until we hear of a change in venue and menu!

Just curious - what do you mean by change of 'venue'?

I told our waitress to give my complements to the cook for what he was able to do with a piece of horse meat. We both laughed and talked about the meat. She said she would let the manager know right away. He/She did not come by our table. We enjoyed the meal overall, but for 16.95 it was a very low grade cut of meat. I have had great steak at Kattie Bells and Nancy Lopez but this one last night looked like pork. It was very flat, about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick with lots of tendons and fat. I may be wrong, but I do not believe it was even from the NY Strip part of a cow. I do like the course, the club house, the atmosphere and the friendly staff, but will not order beef again. I see good comments here about other meals at the Havana. I will give them a try before completely giving up on this location. We live on the east end of Duval so the Havana is very close and convenient to the house. But, I also feel that a trained cook/chef or a manager with any concern for customer satisfaction would never let that piece of meat leave the kitchen. Now, the cold beer for $2.75 and two of them at that is unbelievable. Those same two beers would have run the bill up by $7.00 at my club in Georgia. So, you see although I am pointing out my experience, I am not really complaining. Again, considering service and cost, I left the Havana Club happy. Now thats all I got to say about that.

Oh...why can't they hire some good cooks at Havana Country Club? It has everything else going for it. It has terrific ambiance, GREAT servers, and is so convenient to a lot of people. It has great entertainment, and if we want to enjoy a great group we know to go on Tuesday night and see Kathie, Linda Lou, Pat, Blondie, sometimes JoJo, and the rest of their great crew. It is an instant party to be with them and we all love dancing with them, especially Helene.
CERTAINLY someone needs to change the cooking and buying of food and planning. YOU don't run out of things in the restaurant business especially when Publix is practically a nine iron away.

GG, that was you who broke the window at Publix. With your nine iron! I'm so impressed.
Did you pay for the damage or should Publix have known you could hit a nine iron that far?
