Not exactly a review but my wife and I enjoyed lunch there today. We were seated almost immediately at 1:00 PM. The restaurant was full and fully staffed. There’s also seating outside. The wait staff appeared knowledgeable and comfortable. Great selection of craft beer on draft. Wife had a personal pizza that was nicely done. Crust was thin but not paper thin. I had an “Italian Spicy Calzone” which was enough for two meals. In the NE, we might call it a Stromboli. It was solidly packed with Italian salami, pepperoni, mozzarella, banana peppers, red onion. If there was ricotta, it was not obvious. It was however delicious if not exactly my idea of a calzone. The calzone at Gio’s Deli is more accurate in this regard. We’d definitely return.

We had lunch there today and it was very good. The service was excellent and the food was just as good. We will definitely go back. The menu had a lot of choices. Over heard one of the Owners say they have 14 resturants and they have been successful. We bought one of the Pizza's to bring home and see how they were. It was also excellent. Good to have an alternative Italian place to dine. A little drive from Lake Sumter or Spanish Springs but worth the effort. :bigbow:

We went for lunch yesterday to Piesano's and thought it was excellent! Great pizza, extensive menu, reasonable prices with generous portions, and top notch service. We'll definitely go back.

I’ve had dinner twice at Piesanos. Once for pizza and once for lasagna.
Pizza: The best I’ve had in or near The Villages. Thin crust with fresh, tasty ingredients. I don’t know what “New York Pizza” tastes like, but I’ll bet the “New Yorkers” will like it.
Lasagna: This was the best I’ve ever had (except for that made by my wife). Each ingredient stood out as I ate the dish. Great flavors.
Both dinners were cooked perfectly. Strongly Recommend.

Went last Thursday at 3:45, I figured we beat the dinner crowd. I was wrong, we were given a beeper and waited about 10 minutes. Ordered one of their stone fired pizzas with pepperoni and green peppers. First they brought 3 buns that were just like pizza crust covered in white powder and dipping oil. They were good, but very rich and I didn't want to get too full. The pizza was excellent, much better than any of the three I had at the new Robertos. I'll probably go back for pizza, but won't order the pepperoni. They put way too many pepperoni slices, they were almost touching each other, and I could hardly see the green peppers. Next time, it will be green peppers only because I like them the best.
The waitress was excellent. I ordered a draft beer, which was the coldest I've had in TV and because I was going to the square. I didn't want to get ahead of myself, so I didn't order a second beer, but a Coke instead, and they didn't charge for the Coke, my wife did have a Coke and didn't order a refill, so maybe that's why.

Had a large ultra thin crust with ham, pineapple and mushrooms. There was not enough cheese for sure and the center half was not crisp at all.

Or as Caserta’s on Federal Hill in Providence?
Back to the topic we’ve eaten at both Piesano’s locations in Ocala. First time we had meals that were very good. The next time our friend who lives in On Top of The World ordered 3 pizzas with a variety of toppings for a group of us and we all loved the pizza, probably the best we’ve had in Florida.

I am surprised by the near unanimous accolades for Paisano's pizza. I have had their take out pizza three times. Granted the cardboard sucks some of the moisture out, but all three times I felt there was a shortage of cheese, sauce, the pizza was dry, crust was more chewy than average and their ingredients did not extend close enough to the perimeter of the pizza. There is no comparison to a Stavros pizza, good to the last bite.

We've ordered out from there two or three times now--pizza (twice, I think) and some appetizers. Service is great, staff very friendly! Pizza good, though not as good as Flippers in our opinion (just our opinion!) The appetizers were a bit disappointing, but maybe because we did them as takeout. Might have been better if we'd eaten there. We'll certainly give it another try and try other things on the menu. Seems like a fun place!

Not at all impressed with this pizza. Not enough cheese or toppings for the price. Don't need to go back...

Real Italian pizza is not drowned in cheese and sauce. That's American pizza.

I agree. My biggest issue with most pizza is that it usually has way too much cheese.

We tried take-out from Piesanos Sunday night. It was not great, in my opinion. While it, as others have stated, may be a more authentic Italian pizza, I did not care for it because I prefer more sauce and cheese. But, that is what threads like this are all about; describing the food so others will know if it suits their taste or not. Personally, I like Flippers pizza much more.
I need to try some of Piesanos other offerings.

Being from NJ and have been searching for my style of pizza since my wife and I arrived here five years ago. Went to Piesanos last week. FINALLY FOUND MY PIZZA. Its our opinion that we have found the best pizza we have had anywhere here in Central Florida. Will be visiting frequently!

My favorite pizza is at Sammy Joe's at Mulberry Plaza, however it's 11 miles from where I live and I usually don't have any other stops in the area. Since it is a bit of a drive I started going to Flippers at Traverse when it opened. The pizza was OK, not great not bad. When Roberto's opened we tried it three times since it's ten minutes from our home, first time they put banana peppers instead of green peppers, ruined the flavor. We had accepted the pizza because we had waited an hour for a carryout on opening day. We gave them another chance and ate on the premises and the pizza was good. Went back a third time and the pizza was awful, overcooked very hard crust and the bottom was stiff. Couldn't bend it like previously.
Piesanos we tried and ate on the premises. Great pizza, better than all the others including Mallory, Bravo, Flippers, maybe not as good as Sammy Joe's but not as far away and a lot better atmosphere than Sammy Joe's.

Got a cheese pizza there last night (to go). If you're from New York or North Jersey, you might think that you were having a Pizza Hut pizza. Nice amount of cheese but, nothing really noteworthy about the flavor. Pizza sauce was bland. Crust was ok. But, I would expect more from a $14 large pie. Still, I might go back if I have a coupon :-)

I love Piesano’s and I’m from NY.
We ate there and the eggplant parmesan was so good.
I love their pizza. Just got one from takeout tonight and it was delicious.

There seems to be two pizza places that are being referenced in this thread, Paisanos and Piesanos. We tried a take out Paisanos a few days ago and it was okay, going to try Piesanos today and compare the two.

So, I went to Piesanos this week and ordered a medium supreme with pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, mushroom on thin crust. I agree with previous comments that the pizza tasted "dry". Very little if any sauce and the taste was rather bland. Not sure I'll be back as I've had better at Flippers.

We went there tonight, or should I say, afternoon, because when we tried to get in there, around 5 PM, back in August, it was so crowded we didn't get out of the car. This afternoon we got there at about 4:15 PM and got the last inside table. They also have outside seating. With that said, we thought they had the best pizza and shrimp scampi dish in The Villages, and we've tried almost all of them. We will be back, even if it's just for takeout, if it's too crowded. Good service too!
I would suggest they open another one, or two.

We just tried Piesano's for the first time, ordering one of their pizzas and we did enjoy it. We plan to go back and try an entree or two.
In terms of a review, we got there around 4:30 and had a 20 minute wait for a table for two. We left feedback that the hostess needs to talk to the people she is seating, not the table. My wife has scary good hearing and could barely make out that she was mentioning a special whereas I couldn't hear a thing (my wife would say situation normal...but that is for another discussion....) Our server was very friendly and attentive. Before I forget, the restrooms were clean (yes we check).
The pizza was cooked very much to our liking and was nice and hot out of the oven. The crust was slightly crispy and the toppings were good (not great) in quantity.
Another poster mentioned that pizza is a personal choice and I wholeheartedly agree. We don't care for Giovanni's and while Flippers is good in our opinion, they seem to be the stingiest with toppings on their pizzas. Another factor to consider is price and how it may/may not affect the frequency that you order. We ordered a large gourmet pizza (the Palermo Special) at $19.99. Originally we planned to order a large cheese with three specific toppings, but each topping is $2.79 extra, so the original pizza we were going to order would have been $22.36. Frankly there are other pizza places which we enjoy at much less cost. So yes, we will go back, and if you haven't tried it, give it a go and decide if their pizza/food is to YOUR liking.
