It was third in Quality of Life, right behind North Ft. Myers and Bonita Springs.

Odd how certain surveys are set up. This one has three criteria and one is quality of life, one is health care and the third is activities. It rated dead last in health care and next to last in activities. Makes me very skeptical. I could dance with a low Health care reading but activities??? One has to wonder whose Ox we're grinding.

I realize that is Ox goring and Ax grinding. PLEASE!!!!!!! Give me a little credit for a couple of brain cells.

I cannot stand folks who have no whimsy or humor or wit or fun in their hearts. I will settle for sarcasm, in SOME cases.

I don't see how North Fort Myers was ranked so high, unless they piggybacked off of Fort Myers. I'm not impressed with the health care choices in and around The Villages, but North Fort Myers doesn't even have a hospital.

The title of the presentation is inaccurate.

It defines last as worst or technically anything below first is worst, right!?!

Too many surveys are designed to accomplish a preconceived result.
This one done by TOHATV (tired of hearing about TV) has a preconceived objective, no doubt.

When we were considering retiring to Ecuador or Spain I gave up completely caring what any publication thought was good or bad about someplace. It took too much time to figure out what market they were addressing, and what their opinion of "good" was. There were places where the best place to retire ever turned out to be high rise condos - not for me. And others where the number of disco clubs per capita were important.

Each of us has our own criteria, I tire of listening to experts tell me what I should like. At 70 I feel competent to make up my own mind thank you.

The last thing we wanted was to move near the Beach. This is NOTHING to get upset about because we, for the most part, know it's not true. I feel sorry for the people it may have swayed into moving elsewhere. What Are You Gonna Do? Demand equal time with a rebuttal? Not worth it at all.

We wanted a Friendly place and were looking for more safety in our daily living and the availability of activity if we feel like doing something. Just being around Golf when the courses are open is good enough for me. Visiting every Pool in the Villages is a Mission, but what a beautiful thing to accomplish. We're about half way there.

I reject the Spirit of this Particular Article. We are Very Happy.

The survey nailed it on the medical situation which it seems to me would be downright scary to someone having one or more serious medical conditions!

As far as activities it is all in what one wants to do. Almost any golfer should love TV. Also there are plenty of clubs of every imaginable sort, swimming pools and recreation centers.

But if one likes eating out in first class restaurants, attending first class symphony and opera performances, an oceanside beach, saltwater fishing, hiking in the mountains, and prefers less humidity and shorter hot summers, well...

Also if an individual enjoys big city activities such as pro ball or great museums, art galleries and libraries that is another matter.

It boils down to availability and convenience of what fits one's lifestyle.

And of course Senior Centers per Capita: Full Weight (~3.03) as everything here is for seniors :) they missed data??

I think that volunteering rather than working gives one more freedom. I have given serious thought to working, but I would not be happy having someone telling me what to do at my age, especially with my corporate background. But, if I volunteer people are really pleased to have my expertise and treat me accordingly.

Personally, I do not need Costco, I manage fine with Sam's.

We do have public transportation in the form of the Sumter County Bus which is really accommodating. They will even pick up from your home. BUT, we do not have big city transportation.
