Anyone tried and got away with it? :shocked:Will the smoke hurt the screening?

No problem at all, just don't put the grill too close to the screening and be careful that when you flip open the grill cover that it doesn't get close to a screen. Since we are part time residents, my biggest worry is that the grill could become a projectile during a hurricane if we are not there to move it into the garage when a storm is forecasted, which might be the case in a few days. This is the first summer I did not store it in the garage, hope I don't regret it?

Dunno about smoke and the screening - but - have read here of folks who had critters gnaw through the screens to get to the grill!

Our grill is inside the screened lanai, under the roof and against the CBS wall just outside the sliding glass door. I cook on the grill on average 4 days a week for the past 3 years. So far, the ceiling looks pristine with no signs of discoloration from smoke.

That is the nice part about the grill being under the roof. I grill quite a bit during rain and I and the food stay dry.

Have you kept your grill on your lanai during storms with hurricane force winds? I honestly don't remember bringing in the grill when TV was effected by Irma. All I do remember is we had no damage at all.

I got the new grill, worked like an Ox for three hours putting it together, fired it up too 800 degrees for 15 minutes. Every few minutes I would walk all the way around the grill with my arms up and over the grill. While doing that, I noticed my ceiling fan and although I did not feel any excessive heat when my hands were two feet above the grill I figure the ceiling fan will also serve to dispel any smoke when lifting the lid.

NOTE: The reason I used the term “Worked like an Ox” is because our little prince and princesses never work at all in The Villages.

On subject, I have a higher lanai and I have my pellet grill smoker and regular grill under roof with zero problems. I keep my grills clean, and zero problems with pests getting to it.

To prepare for a hurricane, I do move them close to the wall and bring in anything light, etc. I also have 40 bags of 20 lb grilling pellets stored out there and can place a few bags on anything for weight. No worries.
