Just curious if anyone knows if there has ever been major damage to the homes and property in The Villages due to a hurricane? I know two years ago there was some wind damage to a few homes from the hurricane that passed through and a few years back we had a tornado, but have not heard of any major hurricane damage in the 11 years we have been around.

We had solar panels dislodged during Irma and a huge oak tree fell into the parking lot at Laurel Manor Rec center, missing falling into the building. The front façade, above the entrance was damaged at Laurel Manor too. Several oak trees fell in The Villages, on Golf course property.
Irma changed course several times but did hit us in the diminished capacity of a tropical storm. Still pretty impressive and tense for us.
The rain was ongoing and thanks to the system was ushered onto the golf courses that were indeed flooded and out of commission for a long time. Many branches and palm fronds were broken and dislodged and one poster on here was nearly distraught waiting for them to be picked up. There was a lot of anger over roof damage.
I think we fared very well. No loss of life, no major damage to structures. It all depends how one looks at it. I hope Dorian is as kind to us.

Here are photos of the 2/2/2007 tornado. We were renting on Golden Ridge, the house with the van in front. The other photos of the heavy damage were only 3 or 4 houses from ours, we were incredibly lucky and I slept through it all. The funnel cloud photo was taken in the Village of Caroline.
