Seems like there are a lot of homes for resale in finney.Does anyone have thoughts as to why?

This has happened in every village and neighborhood. After the 1 year anti-flipping clause expires a percentage of people decide to sell for a number of reasons, too big, too small, miss the grand kids, buyer's remorse for an impulse buy, and lots of other reasons. It will be like this for about 2 years and then things will settle out, happens all the time. Not something I would worry about.

I agree. Homes sell easily and people may have spotted one they like better or a location or view lot more to their liking. It happens frequently in The Villages. A common saying is that you will have three homes in The Villages. We are on our second.

What the others said. I also think people buy and sell as they can make money. Maybe the shows on HGTV contribute a bit too. We know folks who've moved here and have moved more than the 3X that are purported to be the average Villager.

We haven't done this...yet. We've been here 10 yrs and are still in our 1st house. "IF" we were to move it would probably be to down-size a bit....less house and even less yard. We're in a smaller home now and the yard isn't all that large but as we age..we don't need so much anymore.

Lots never learn TVs until they move here. Then they learn and wish they were somewhere else. I was pretty lucky.

We have purchased in two new villages, soon as the one year from purchase was up homes went up for sale. Since you can’t make a profit by selling before your year. Some in both neighborhoods bought for vaca homes, some found the garage too small, some still had their other home and finally sold. Some due to a passing. But there were those who bought, rented it and then sold for a profit.

So this has been the norm since we purchased in 2010. Fenney is in the same resale ballpark as other new villages

We live in Fenney and know a lot of those who have sold, the reasons were as follows: Went from a villa to a designer (3 of them), went from a kissing lanai to a water view, poor health, moved back to family, didn't like a corner lot, moved from a cottage to a designer, moved from a cottage to a veranda, don't know of anyone that sold because they didn't like it down here. There are about 20 re-sales out of 1,400 homes in Fenney, that's less than 1-1/2% which is probably below normal.

Sorry but I know 3 couples that bought in Fenney, one was very disappointed in the noise, construction and isolated area. The other wanted to live in the North off 466 area the other bought as an investment. For me sorry but I live between LSL & SS Squares the sweet spot of the villages. Fenney isn’t for everyone.

Fenney isn’t for everyone.

Neither is DeLaVista.

When we moved here three years ago, we definitely did not even consider any house between Lake Sumter and Spanish Springs.

We now live in Osceola Hills, but we drive down to the Fenney area several times a week because they have beautiful walking trails that DO NOT ALLOW GOLF CARTS.

If you have not been to Edna's and Hogeye, you will be amazed how beautiful it is. The best thing The Villages has ever done.

:ohdear: Sounds like the only intelligent one of the 3 was the couple that bought as an investment!

There's no place I'd rather be. Fenney is full of fun, kind people, most of whom would never disparage anyone else's home village. If you don't like Fenney, please stay away. We don't need your negativity here..

Everyone that I know that lives down south (of 44) loves it. After living in TV for two years for the first time I met someone who does not like living here (but her husband does and so they stay). Said it was too crowded! I laughed (native NYer and lived in HI for previous 10 years).

Of course there was noise and construction, what did they expect in a new village, but that is all over in Fenney, Desoto, and 90% of McClure, it is very, very peaceful and quiet down here. The one you mentioned that bought as an investment most likely did very well and if he didn't it was his own fault as these homes have appreciated tremendously. The one that wanted to live up in the old villages north of 466, to each his own and they probably made out very well also. There are 5 or 6 thousand people living south of 44 now and they can't build homes fast enough which is why the prices have gone up so much. This is a totally different area unlike any other part of TV. Over the last two months, we had two neighbors list their homes for sale and both were sold to the first person that looked at them, one was the couple moving to be with family and the other was due to health, both made a very handsome profit on their homes.

I hope this is how everyone feels about where they live.

This statement reminds me of a great country song. Johnny Russell - Rednecks, White Socks And Blue Ribbon Beer 1973 (Drinking Songs) - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8VtWQyvzqQ)

Since we bought in two villages that were in the beginning of building, noise, construction and dirt were the exciting moment of how this place works. Take a week to go vacationing and a whole block would go from dirt to framed. Watching new neighbors come to buy homes, handing them photos of their home in progress. Did the three couples think homes were built off site and dropped on the pad. As for isolated I am guessing they were just as confused about the quiet calming environment That others enjoy. May be their eyes were closed when they purchased their home.

Bashing of new villages is not NEW. Each NEW village that we bought in had the same degrading conversation of how stupid were we to buy in that off the grid, away from anything and you will never sell your house. Yet pennacamp our first bashing home, sold in 3 days, so those who called us stupid I believe were just a little envious of moving to new areas.
