I would like an opinion on which Village seems to have the most "fun". We want to live in a Village with lots of neighborhood activities and just plain friendliness.

IMHO every Village will claim that they're the best!
That said, experience suggests that the newer Villages are the most lively. Part of that, I suspect, is that many of our newest Villagers are "youngsters!"
But, many older Villages have very close-knit communities. My own street of some 16 houses has residents ranging in age from 56 to 83 or so. We pay little attention to the small age differences, and revel in the closeness of our friendships. It helps tremendously, I think, that all but our youngest neighbors, moved here within a couple of months of each other!
Bottom line, Leon, is: You're going to love it here no matter where you are!

You honestly won't know without talking to people who already live there. One street in a village can be very active with things going on weekly. The next street over may have a get-together twice or year or even never, with just friends getting together at each other's homes.
If you purchase in a new village, the odds are pretty good there will be activities, at least for the first year or two.
Even if you manage to land in a "dead" zone, you'll still find plenty to do and, odds are, that you'll find a few people on your street that will become friends and with whom you'll do things (including getting together in each others' homes),

:agree:. In our village, one or two of the streets/cul de sacs have an annual block party. Other areas have semi-annual driveway parties. We have golf outings, polo game parties, etc.
No matter what village you move into you will find something to do.

My Husband and I just purchased in the Village of Rio Grande. We were advised by some friends to purchase in a "newer" village, because we would find more people our own age. We prefered to buy in an "older" village, hoping for a wider range of age, and experience. We love it, (we are only part timers at this time), we find the neighborhood has a variety of people, and have been welcomed with open arms!

I think you will find the new villages to have the most activity. It is simply because everyone is new and are usually anxious to meet new friends and are just plain open about meeting new folks. Everybody is in the same boat they want to meet new friends. Unless they moved here in a group they won't know anybody either.
Newer villagers from newer villages tend to comunicate more on this site. They are just so excited and want to communicate that.
Having said that I don't think it really matters all that much which village. You will meet new friends any where you go. This is not a good place to hang out if you are a hermit or hermit want-a-be.

We've had the same experience in Springdale. We love the northside and our neighbors are terrific!

Group visits out of Villages, get togethers for lunch/dinner+cinema. Lovely Villa neighbourhood with many homes overlooking Horse field and Polo field.

Speaking of happy villagers, remember the old adage:
To find happiness you must carry it with you.
That's why we have the shopping bags and coolers on the golf carts.

If you buy in the dead zone you probably just found a plot in the cemetery.
LOL I don't think any village stands out more than any other.
If I stay home for some reason it is because of my choice. There is always something going on in my neighborhood.

When you first move to a neighborhood everyone is new and tend to do things together but after a year or two people have gone their own way, doing different things and interests and friends and get away from the original friendliness. Our street is quite long, many people have come and gone and everyone has their own agenda. Occasionally we have tried ladies luncheons but there tends to be many cliches and if you're not in one of them they won't have anything to do with the other people on the street. If someone says their street is perfect then there is one person who is setting up all the activities. After awhile you get tired of being the one person who sets things up...no one else takes the initiative so why bother. There are too many people here to worry about your neighbors

Thanks to everyone who replied. We are getting closer to becoming Villagers. We will be staying again from Oct 1, thru Dec 31. Should get to share in the fun of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, plus a shuttle launch on Nov. 1.

If you are going to the coast for the shuttle launch, search thru past posts for good locations to watch it. Can be seen from TV also - just a view from afar.
